I am thinking of a vow renewal for our 25th anniv. next year. We thought it was a WONDERFUL idea to get married over the Christmas break while my now DH was still a college student with one semester left to go!

But, it is sooo hard to celebrate just 2 days after Christmas!! Think Christmas/anniv presents at the same time!!! Sometimes we are even too tired from Christmas celebrations to go out!!

Will getting a date that week for a renewal be impossible?? I am hoping for sunset point. We have 6 kids & getting them all down there with us will be impossible...other than a holiday break...we will have 2 in college down to 3rd grade.

Any info welcome!

For an intimate vow renewal, you can book as late as about 60-90 days out. I booked in April for a September wedding.

For a custom, you can't book more than a year out.

Having said that, you might want to call Disney and book the date time at the one year mark to make sure you have the best chance of getting the date/time/location you want. Disney will tell you if someone else has booked the same date/time/location as you and I think they do a lottery...be flexible in the location/time and you probably won't have a problem with the date part!

Good luck!!

For an intimate you can book on the one year mark BUT you have to have 4 nights accomidations booked first, or they wont book your wedding. Even if your not 100% sure about the date I'd call and book it, then you can move it if nessicary so that you're sure you get when you really want.

Hope this helps.

Melissa

As you are interested in a holiday time I would call soon to discuss the possibilities. That doesn't mean you need to book now, however, at times there are restrictions during the holidays for weddings.

We're 12/29/2005.

We've found that a lot of people are comingbecuase of the time or year and a lot of people aren't coming becuase of the time of year. I would say if you're going to do it, jump on the plane tickets early! Our STDs went out (custom wedding) in June and everyone was happy becuase tickets prices were low. Well, no one starting booking until September and they freaked becuase they'd gone up so high. Not our faults... you had the information people!

December 29th is our anniversary, so we've also had to juggle Christmas, Anniversaries, family, travel, etc. for that time of year! I love it... something about it that makes the manic rush at that time of year so worth it... and WDW looks so gorgeous all decked out for the holidays :wizard:

I'm all in favor... but then again, I'm partial!

Poohlover, how wonderful! Congrats on the upcoming 25th anniversary.

As Hiwaygal mentioned, be a little flexible with dates & times and you shouldn't have a problem. And contact the FTW folks now in order to get a feel for when you can officially book your vow renewal. Have fun planning it!

Thanks for all the replies...I am thinking of surprising my DH with this for THIS years Christmas present...this way he can be invloved in the planning all year.

Our weddng was rushed, at Thanksging we figured out the Dec date! So 4 weeks & LOTS of work on my part! All of that was due to both sets of parents causing problems...nothing big, just that we could see it wasn't going to get better...only worse byt the June date we had wanted!

I think it will just be us & our kids. So we can be flexable.

Any good ideas for something fun after for 8/9 people??

christmas is a very popular time at the wdw, i would call about the date in december ntm booking your room for the trip. another thing to mention is sunset pointe can only accomodate 10 guests.

as for a fun thing afterwards how about renting a boat from the gf & taking a spin around bay lake or having dinner at ohanas at the polynesian its a great restaurant & easily accomodates larger groups plus has views of magic kingdom, even the fireworks with piped in music.

best of luck with your plans & congrats on your upcoming anniversary!

Poohlover, I was going to mention in my prior post to you that for my 25th, I have already tasked my husband with the planning of it. I find it wonderful that you will be doing a bit of the same with yours. Great (married) minds think alike. ;)

As to something fun, here are a few suggestions...

Think about booking the Grand 1 yacht for a fireworks cruise. And have it catered. That would be very fun for the kids (and romantic for you and your husband).

Consider booking a dinner reservation at the Luau, Hoop-Dee-Doo, or Mickey's Backyard BBQ (my kids love attending Disney's dinner shows).

I don't know what the ages are of your kids, but look into booking a Disney Tour for the family. If you can't find one that will fit everyone's ages, consider booking a VIP Tour (we did a VIP Tour in Disneyland this Summer with Nutz4dzny's family and it was incredible -- the kids AND adults loved it).

How 'bout private golf lessons (group style) for the whole family? (We have done that a few times and it is a hoot.)

How 'bout private tennis lessons for the whole family? (These are a lot of fun -- my son loved 'em.)

What about water skiing for the whole family? Parasailing? Tubing? (Most kids love being on the water.)

Horseback riding? Hay ride? Carriage ride?

What about a family portrait in one of the theme parks with a Disney photographer? (I know you'll have vow renewal photos but this session would be more informal.)

Bascially, I think you should just sit down and go through the official WDW website with a fine tooth comb until you find something that you have never done before. When you find it, book it. 25 wonderful years of marriage calls for something out of the ordinary. I know you'll find just the right thing.

Have fun planning.
