How early do you book condos?

I really prefer to plan way ahead for things, but I am not a fan of paying way in advance. I noticed that most of the condo owners want full payment a couple of months in advance with steep cancellation penalties. Our trip is early June and it seems there is still quite a bit of variety and availability (we are looking mostly at Windsor Hill, Windsor Palms and Regal Palms). I noticed on some threads from last year that people seemed to be getting great rates even booking only a few weeks out. If we aren't too particular about a specific condo, how late do you think we can wait to book?

We rented in Windsor Hills from www.disneyhomeforyou.com and I thought their cancellation policy was reasonable. They require 50% down upon booking, but you can cancel up to 30 days in advance with a $30 cancellation fee. Their rates include the sales tax, so what you see is what you get--no extra fees, except for cleaning if you stay for less than a week.

You can sign up for e-mails from vacationcentralflorida.com to receive some last minute deals, but those deals are usually only offered 1-2 weeks out, and not all that often.

Since I am such an overplanner....I have ALREADY booked our townhouse for October. I am pretty picky but agree that I have seen some great deals for last minute but I am the kind that just can't leave it up to chance. If you aren't picky and you don't mind waiting til closer to time I'm sure you'd find something pretty decent out there . Whatever you do, I'm sure you'd be able to find something nice, but...this coming from the overplanner .
