How does WDW and DL compare?

We've been to the Disney World several times, but we are now planning our first trip to DL and I'm trying to get a feel for how different it might be. How do the size of parks compare? How many days does it really take to do the two parks? I appreciate any info!

WDW are much larger - but DLR has a higher concentration of rides and hence (about 10% less than WDW). Three days is considered the minimum to experience DLR - four days is better.

like a giant orange and a little apple.

I disagree with BradK above.

They are very much similar, going to DL vs MK is like going into your house and someone moved the furniture around some.

WDW is much bigger and more spread out, DL is much more intimant. Because of the smaller size and only 2 parks one can do it in 3 days, I don't think 2 weeks would be enough to see WDW, because they have all the resorts and water parks etc as well.

I enjoy my time at both equally

I like brad's analogy. :thumbsup2 Disneyland has a more intimate feel. DL and DCA are close together where in WDW, you can harldy walk anywhere let alone park to park. At WDW I got the feeling of really being away from real life where in DL the sounds of Harbor Blvd are a stone's throw. Walt's spirit is alive and well in Disneyland where in MK I did not get that feel.

As a side note, IASW and POTC are better at DL but PP and Splash at WDW are far superior.

With that, I love them both! pixiedust:

Space is also much better at DL the Guns come loose at DL in Buzz. I have never ridden TOT at WDW but it is my understanding that that is also better there than at DL.

The outside look of Fantasy Land at DL is also much better.

By PP do you mean Peter Pan?!?! I disagree wholly, the Peter Pan in DL is by far and away my favorite of the two!

::yes:: Peter Pan.

i was being semi-facetious, only because it's a popular topic and it can go on for pages and pages of the same thing and nobody rarely goes to both and says hey, they are so similar. the ambience which for me makes up the bulk of the factors is quite different between the two just like i'd expect it to be for the rest of the parks worldwide.

many people favor TOT at WDW because of the 5th dimension. me, it's nice to see it once or twice, but I'm ready to get with it. WDW's also has random drop profiles (which includes a false ending). DCA's also has the thermal imaging mirror.

and yes, Fantasyland, Toontown and NOS kill their counterparts at WDW by aesthetics alone.
