How does waitlist work ?

I wanted to book a GV at HHI president's week at 7mo. I guess I was really pushing it. Not avail. so booked 2 studios and a 1 BR for us and MIL,FIL, SIL, BIL. Can I call to be put on a waitlist at the same resort for the GV ? And do you need more points to cover the waitlist choice? Just hoping

Yes, you can call and ask them to waitlist you for the GV for your travel dates. The waitlist is now automatic, meaning that if it comes through for you your reservation will automatically be switched to the GV. Any additional points needed for the GV reservation will be used, even if they must be borrowed from your next use year, therefore you need to have enough points available (whether currently available or borrow-able) to cover the reservation.

The waitlist can be set up to cancel the 2 studios and 1 bedroom if the GV waitlist comes through. You don't have to have a "separate bucket" of points "on the side" to get on the waitlist.

Be sure MS understands exactly what you want to do so you don't end up without anything. And if the waitlist does come through (hope it does), check your point balances carefully right away. Lots easier to fix a "mistake" when it happens. (Things will probably go just fine, but there have been reports of mistakes by MS, so just sugesting you watch carefully so you don't end up frustrated).
