How Does this Sound?

Hi everyone!

So I need to make my ADR's Tuesday and this is my first time ever making them  I've only been to Disney once and that was ten years ago with no plan whatsoever.

So, I'm looking for a little help. Can you guys please let me know how this sounds? Anything I should change? It's peak season (spring break), so very busy. I don't want to plan every last detail, but it's DS's 7th bday and his first trip, so I really want it to be special! Trip is me, DS (7) and my sister (26). Arriving on Monday to spend the rest of the trip with us is stepsister (? maybe 40?), her husband (?) and their DS (9).

Arrival- Sunday- Plane flies in at 12:30- Hoping to head over to DHS and poke around there for a bit. ADR- Sci-Fi around 5? Back to hotel early..

Monday- MK- Hopefully we make RD. Head back to the room for an afternoon break and then ADR at HDDR. On this night we are meeting up with family from GA who will be with us for the remainder of the trip. I'm trying to plan around them too. They don't have park tickets this day so we are hoping for HDDR.

Tuesday- DHS- Up early hoping for RD again- Afternoon break at hotel- back to DHS for ADR at Mama Melrose for F! package- 6PM?

Wednesday- MK- RD almost for sure (just got to get these guys out of bed!)- afternoon break- ADR- Chef Mickey-5PM?- Hoping to have a cake delivered here as a surprise for both boys bdays :)- Back to MK for Wishes and Electrical Parade

Thursday- Epcot- Early- Afternoon break- ADR- Garden Grill- 7PM? Stay for Illuminations

Friday- AK- Early start- Stay through until about 4- ADR- T-Rex around 6:30? Will we have time to make it? Stay at DTD and shop or head back to room if we're tired

Saturday- I left this open to wherever we wanted to head. I'm not making any ADR's so that we can eat QS wherever we are. Our plane leaves at 9PM so we have a good amount of time to spend in a park if we want, or just hang around.

So...how does this sound? I know there is no rest day, but the trip isn't that long so I'm not sure we would have time for a rest day. Any suggestions?

I think it sounds pretty reasonable. My only change (if it were me) would be arrival day. If your plane doesn't land til 12:30, there's not going to be a whole lot you can do or see at DHS between the time you finally get there and your ADR. It wouldn't be worth it for me.

Whilst about Downtown Disney that day instead? There are several restaurants there that would be just as cool spas Sci-Fi, and you'd avoid the experience of wandering around a crowded park during the afternoon.

OP, I think your plan looks good. :thumbsup2

I noticed that you are from Mass. Are you going for April vacation? If you are, it will be busy but not crazy busy. We used to go April vacation week every year. The crowds are big, but not Easter or Xmas big (we're doing Easter this year :crazy2:). But it's definitely still important to be up and out early to be at the parks for rope drop.

Are you staying at a Disney resort? If you are, I'd suggest taking advantage of morning EMH. You have to get up earlier but you can get so much done in that first hour.

I think you're right, but I was thinking DS might really love this place, and I kind of wanted to take him into a park first thing. I can't imagine telling him no parks on the first day. I'm going to have to warn him that we really won't be able to do much though as far as rides. If we hate it, we can leave right after dinner and do whatever we want.

I wish, wish I was going during April break for the kids. I'm in school full time myself so I have to go during my break, so we are going March 10-16th. So it's going to be pretty busy I think.

We are staying at AoA! :cheer2: I think I only have us taking advantage of morning EMH one day while we are there. This is only because I'm predicting lots of trouble getting everyone up and out in the mornings. They don't like getting up early on vaca. DS will happily get up with me though, so if I can't get them up, I'll happily just take him and we'll have a blast :) I did use Touring Plans though to see which parks were best which days.

The only things that stuck out to me were the ones i quoted. I think that you are cutting it close with the ADRs in order to make the night time entertainment.

Hi everyone!

Tuesday- DHS- Up early hoping for RD again- Afternoon break at hotel- back to DHS for ADR at Mama Melrose for F! package- 6PM?

I believe that Fantasmic! dining package includes only the first showing and that is usually 7:30? and with that package you have to go to your designated area 45 minutes beforehand? that would make it 6:45 that you would have to line up - not enough time to eat dinner at 6.

5pm is definitely doable in order to get back for wishes, MAY be doable to get back for MSEP.

Thursday- Epcot- Early- Afternoon break- ADR- Garden Grill- 7PM? Stay for Illuminations
7pm dinner may be cutting a bit close, especially if the park is crowded and you want to get a good viewing area for illuminations.

hope your vacation is MAGICAL!!

Thank you soo much!!! This is exactly what I was looking for! I will adjust the times...thanks again! :thumbsup2

Stay far away from T-Rex. The food is terrible, the service lousy, WAY over priced and the place is so loud you can't hear yourself think, let alone have a conversation at the table. There are WAY better places to eat. My Dnephew (6) was SOOO excited to eat there and even he didn't like it.
Also, IMHO, I would just skip the F! dinner package. Eat a little earlier then just get in line and wait it out. The seats for the dinner package are at the far end of the ampitheater and are definitely not worth it.

Aw really? T-Rex is one of the ADRs I'm looking forward to most. I've read a lot of mixed reviews about it, but I was thinking DS would really enjoy it.

I don't think I can skip the F! package. I know that during peak season people wait about 2 hours for F! I don't want to waste that amount of time waiting around when I can get seats 45min before instead. I know the seats aren't the best, but since it's DS's first trip, I'm thinking he'll just like the experience more than anything. Thanks!

Sounds good (and tasty)! I love Sci-Fi! It is my fav!

I am a FAN of the Fantasmic Dining Package !

I've done all 3. H&V about 4x.... HBD once and now MM! F! dining package once.... (May 2012)

My alltime favorite is Mama Melrose... I probably had one of the first ressies for this and got a 5:05pm Dinner ressie in January for a May dinner.

It was PERFECT ! We loved our dining ressies... the meal was fabulous and the Fantasmic special passes were wonderful.

I can send a link with our review...

Love your plan...you'll have a fabulous trip !

I would love a link with your review! This was actually the ADR I was most unsure of, so I would love to see reviews! Thanks!

Hey Vicki;

Here you go !

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUser...nte_Italiano_MGM_Studios-Orlando_Florida.html

I love that you and your DS6 are going.... I was a "Single Mom" for 10 years... and even once married about 2 years ago took a trip with just DS and I... DSthen18 and I went "Just" the 2 of us...

It was a most fabulous trip... but the most wonderful experiences are the traditions that we made entirely our own over the years

(Like the pic of DS trying to pull the sword out of the stone every visit)

Have a magical visit !

Thanks so much for the review!!! I'm actually starting to look forward to Mama Melrose!

And being a single mom definitely has its hardships, but there's also something really special about it. DS and I have this amazing relationship that I just wouldn't change for the world. While I hope to remarry one day again, I never want to lose this special bond. It's certainly not an ideal situation, but we make the very best of it :)

Awe! Very few situations are ideal... even many marriages... :thumbsup2

You and your son will never lose that special bond ! And he will always remember how you went out of your way to take special care of him ! Many 2 parent families can not afford a visit to Disney... and it's such a magical as well as an educational time for your DS.

You'll meet Mr. Right when it's time. I hope he is a Disney Fanatic too !:goodvibes

Hugs,
Mary
