How does this roommate matching system work?

Ok so i'll be arriving on June 4th and I'm having a difficult time finding other 21+ males arriving at this time. So I signed up for roommate matching and it gave me a roommate match key and from what I understand you can share that key with someone else and become there roommate.

My question is, if you don't find someone to share your key with... when does Disney match you with someone? It's been about a month and I've went on a couple times and received no match yet then I logged in today and it says there were currently no more matching spots available and to check back and see if anything opens up...

I'm just confused as to why I am receiving this message especially since I have already signed up for it and got my roommate match key and everything..

Am I missing something here?? Thanks!

The same thing happened to me for my August 20th arrival date! It never paired me with anyone since I signed up (in early March) and now it just says all matches are currently full.

I noticed in the middle of March that I forgot to say "let Disney pair me with random matches" or something along those lines, but after I fixed that, I never got paired with anyone. :confused3

It's confusing. And it makes me sad.

Do we have to do roommate matching?

No. It's completely optional. But it's super helpful in case you find someone you want to room with. You sign up for the roommate matching to get a code that you exchange with the person you want to be your roommate and once you accept the match, they'll be your roommate no matter what. So if one of you gets to the front of the line during check-in first, you don't have to worry about being paired with someone else because you'll already be in the system as paired with your roommate.

It's also helpful when you're only looking for ONE more roommate and you want to meet them before check-in to see if you get along, because if you don't get along then you can break the match and not be penalized. If you're randomly matched with someone at check-in, and you don't get along at ALL, you have to wait a minimum three weeks and then ask to be switched and pay something around $50, I think.

i havent received any of that yet, when do you get it?
is it for PI or CP?

Roommate matching isn't available for PI. But if you're in the CP you get it when you recieve the email confirming your check-in dates. It's a link to the onboarding website, you just hover over the menu "Housing" and it's a mini link saying "Roommate matching."

You sign in using your email and your cast member ID # thing that you get on your acceptance letter. (I forget if it's actually called that or not.)
