How does the Wiating List work

Had an e-mail yesterday confirming that we have been put on a waiting list for December - but what happens now? Do we have to chase DVC reservations or do they call/e-mail us to tell us if there is availability?

Depends. How did you waitlist? If you asked for auto confirm, MS will automatically book anything that comes through. You'll find out when you get the confiirmation letter in the mail. Or you can check the DVC members' website - some have reported that the reservation shows up there before they get the letter or a call.

Most usually ask for a call when they waitlist. MS calls them when a match occurs to see if the member still wants to make the reservation.

You might want to call back at least once to make sure you actually are on the waitlist - there have been reports that sometimes MS doesn't "get it right".

You can also be on the wait list for individual days or an entire week, two weeks, etc..

I have been on a wait list for Vero Beach since February 27th for a 2-bedroom. I needed 7-days, and was only able to book 3-days initially. I asked them to wait list me for each of the individual days I still need and like CarolMN mentions I have them doing auto-confirm.

I have received one additional day and with the auto-confirm they sent me a letter showing this additional day. I now have 4-days, but I am still waiting on the remaining 3-days I need for my July 29th trip.

CarolMN also makes a great suggestion to check the DVC member website. Under "My DVC" and you can actually check your reservations and see which days have been booked.
