How does the new Test Track compare to the old Test Track?

I actually like the new version better. The theme of designing your car is cool! I think you will enjoy it!
I agree the theming your car part is fun, but it doesn't feel like it has anything at all to do with the ride. There is only a nebulous connection between the design and what comes up on the screens during the ride.
I believe the ride is much less impressive now than before. First off, it's hard for me to ride it and not have the original narration going through my head because the ride track has not changed (other than removing the shaking during the Belgian block section). Second, they actually subtracted from the ride. Look at the rooms they took out the hot, cold, and acid tests from as those are now just basically enclosed back rooms with nothing in them and some beeping noises. I already mentioned the Belgian block removal. The head on semi effect is lame now because they put those Tron lights on the semi and you see it coming before the lights turn on. Remember when they had a car smashing into the wall just before you turned to go outside? That's gone also. Lastly, I don't know what the whole Progress City thing is supposed to mean in relation to the ride.

You make good points! I guess I really did not miss the subtractions.

We prefer the old version. We think it looks very bland and low budget in the interior now. (Plus, after riding RSR at DLR it seems like the bargain basement version of a far superior ride!) It is still fun though!

I like the new "Sim Track" version and love designing my car. I always use the Single Rider line so I design my car at one of the kiosks at the exit (usually after my first ride with a generic). I like the TRON-like effects too.

Sadly, the updates just missed the mark, IMO!

The rise of 3-D printing means custom cars are (almost) here! The additive manufacturing revolution has arrived! Prototyping in most industries is completely changing. Prototypes can now be made in hours instead of weeks, and multiple companies are developing the means for consumers to design (and redesign) their own cars! Car parts will soon be (some are now) made from recyclable materials. Just grind up the old part, and the powder can be melted into a new shape! What used to take weeks, can now be done in MINUTES!

The second BIG area where Test Track just missed the mark is in the area of advancing the concept of automated driving. We're probably a few years from fully automated cars, but automatic collision avoidance is already installed in many new cars. GPS's already offer route alternatives.

Test Track easily could be a fun means of educating the public about innovations that are already revolutionizing the auto industry.

I like the new one better (kinda like TRON, and no more hot/cold tests), although with the new one you can no longer say "they were cones!"

I am really baffled that guests find "designing a car" to be exciting.

You have been able to do much of that with at-home and standard arcade car-race video games for 10-15 years.

I like the old version much better. It was a fun concept. I loved the skidding/breaking part. I think he new one is kind of silly with designing your car. It has no impact whatsoever on the ride.

They shouldn't have messed with the old one....if they wanted to change it they should have turned it into Radiator Springs!!

I don't like the new one. I know the ride track is the same....but the story is gone. The high speed part is still thrilling but I always feel something is missing now

I liked the original too. The car design thing is kind of a time trap (and a germ fest if you ask me!)... But it's still fun and we still do it.
