Hi,

My question is how does the Dining Dining Plan work exactly, meaning what do you do when you go to a restaurant? What do you tell the server? do they scan your magic band, etc?

This is my first time going to DW so I have no idea how the DDP works?

They'll also bring you a check that shows the cost of what you ordered so you can calculate the gratuity. You can also pay that via your magic band (charging back to the room) or just pay it at the table.

Your receipts will show your credits left on the bottom.

Thanks for the info.

Also note that if you have a meal you'd rather pay out of pocket, you can just tell them that you're not on the plan and they'll bring you a bill as usual to charge to your MB or cash/card.

There are some meals where you might prefer to pay OOP vs. using your 'credit'. Example is we are having a early breakfast at Be Our Guest and lunch later at a QS. Both would burn QS credit so we're going to pay for lunch OOP as BOG breakfast is $21.99/pp and the 'higher' value of the two.

Also, make sure it makes sense for you to do the plan. It's not designed to save you money except in specific circumstances, mainly eating a lot of character buffets. It's also a lot of food.
