How does Soarin compare to other motion simulators?

I can ride the teacups, TOT, any roller coasters, you name it...but those motion simulator rides (Star Wars, Body Wars, etc) seem to get to me a little. I have never gotten sick from them, but they definitely made me a little woozy.

How does Soarin compare to those other rides, in terms of probability of inducing motion sickness?

If you can handle O'canada you can handle Soarin yes it feels like you are moving but there are no jerking motions. And very pleasurable ride.

This is a good thread... I was curious of it also, not a simulator person. So, does the seat move? Or are you just hanging, standing still, with a screen in front of you??

You are pretty much just lifted up and hanging while you watch a movie screen. It is relaxing.

I have never been on O'Canada, so I can't relate to that one. Sounds like maybe the difference between Soarin and the other simulators is that it is a smooth, calm ride, instead of the fast pace of some of the others. I'll definitely be giving it a try, sounds like a great ride, just wanted to know what to expect...

I rode it a little less than 2 weeks ago. I can't ride any of those thrill rides, I hate that feeling in my stomach! I LOVED Soarin'. It is my favorite ride! I was a little uneasy at first, because of a fear of heights, but quickly got over that. However, my sis in law can do ALL of the thrill rides and she said it started to get to her a little. But she loved it!

Soarin is so great! I can't do any of the simulators either. The thing I liked about Soarin is that it holds a ton of people. The room is huge and open, not claustrophobic at all. The ride is very smooth. Although I've never been hang gliding, that's what I associate it with, just kind of floating gently through the air.

Sounds like it won't be as bad as the other simulators. Can't wait to try it out! We leave on Saturday, about 3am!!!

Thanks for the input.

It's a wonderful, smooth yet exhilarating ride. I too can't any of those rides that 'actually' move a lot and can make you queasy...this didn't have that at all.

My biggest problem is I couldn't stop from lifting my legs, thinking I'd hit the trees!

Soarin is awesome!!! Once you are up in the area the hang glider moves slightly. It is very gentle.

I can ride virtually anything, but cannot ride most simulator rides, like Star Tours, or Spiderman or Men In Black at Universal, etc. They essentially ruin me for the day.

I had no problem with the DL version of Soarin' Over California.

Perhaps the single best theme park ride I have ever done.
