How does Royal Pacific equate with Disney hotels?

I'm thinking about staying at Royal Pacific for a coule of nights. How do the rooms and amenities compare to the Disney hotels? Is it more like a moderate at Disney or like a deluxe?

Do they charge hotel guests for parking? Can Royal Pacific guests use the pools at the other Universal resorts?

Is there any real advantage to staying at one of the more expensive Universal hotels?

It is more like a Disney Deluxe.
They charge $6 a night for self parking. I think valet parking is $12.
Yes, you can use the pool at all three on site hotels.
Advantages--FOTL, no waiting! Just show your room key and go right in the express entrance. Can't beat that.
Also, it's an easy walk to the parks and City Walk. It's well worth it to stay on site.

Nice hotel. I think I'd choose the Hard Rock though. We enjoyed that much more.

I love WL when at WDW. At Universal we always stay at RP when we go to Universal. I would equate the Universal hotels with deluxes.

Our room there was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was nice. We always had turndown service and they often left a little gift.

The lobby area and the pool area is very nice.

Getting FOTL with your room key is wonderful.

We have stayed at Royal Pacific a few times now.

We love it. It is definately equivalent to a Disney deluxe resort. (at 1/2 the price), and front of the line access just can't be beat.

The ammenties (soaps and lotions are much better). Many great restaurants within minutes. Easy, easy to get to parks and City Walk.

The rooms have a mini bar, coffee maker.

Beds are quite comfy.

Decor is fabulous.

We LOVED Royal Pacific. It is = to a Disney deluxe. Gorgeous rooms, beautiful lobby, serene and beautiful pool area, quick and relaxing transportation, def felt like an escape. We loved it, very relaxing and quiet.

The room amenities, like soaps and lotions, are nicer than Disney ones, I think. I snagged some of that lotion for my purse =) The rooms are quiet and pretty.

The FOTL is absolutely incredible, and we will NEVER do US/IOA again without it. By having it, I was able to go back to the hotel each afternoon and take a nap at that gorgeous pool under a palm tree =)

You can also pool hop, though DH and my brother did this and came back an hour later exclaiming that the Royal Pacific was the best pool. =)

We did the valet for $12 and it was worth every penny =)

I would say that you should finish your trip at US if you plan to stay onsite, as you will be completely spoiled by FOTL and find yourself very impatient standing in lines at WDW after that =)

Wow - we are staying three nights over Thanksgiving - glad I picked RP from your reviews.

We also used these boards to help pick our onsite hotel for New Years eve weekend. Will be staying at VWL for 7 nights then switching to Royal Pacific for 3 nights. Couldn't decide between the 3 onsite hotels but the good reviews here and great price we got through AAA made our decision for us. Do you think the Royal Pacific is comparable to the Polynesian at Disney? Thanks.

I think the Royal Pacific is much nicer than the Polynesion. It's newer, brighter, and the pool is huge. It's also so great to be able to walk to the parks!

I enjoyed my stay at RPR more than my stay at a WDW deluxe. The FOTL pass is worth it! Plus RPR has beautiful theming (the orchids are amazing!) and the short walk to the theme parks and City Walk. Pets are allowed and there were a lot of dogs present during our last stay. If you have pet allergies, be sure to request a no pet room. Also, if you are a light sleeper, you may want to consider a garden view over a pool view room.

...as you can see from my tag! This is definitely a deluxe resort. It is a beautiful resort. We always stay here. I like the South Pacific themeing, it is very exotic! The service is superb! I just LOVE LOVE this resort!! :)

There's a lovely path that takes you to CityWalk and the themed parks or you can take a relaxing boat ride. If you want to pool hop (which is okay to do this at Universal) just take the boat to HRH or PB (which ever one you're going to) from the CityWalk. There's also the bus you can take from RPR.

Every nite at 6:30 there's a torch lighting ceremony. There's hula dancers there and the fire twirler. It is fun to watch. They also dance in the Island restuarant and a man that sings Hawaiian songs with his ukelale. And every Saturday, there's a Luau, there's a cost to get in and you have to make a reservation. We only did a Luau once and we thought that's enough for us.

FOTL is the Best-est in the world!! :teeth: ;) I think it beats the Early Entry at WDW. You can go to the park anytime you want to and still be the first in line. At WDW you have to get up early and certain park each is only open for EE. But with Universal, either park you go with you can take advantage of FOTL anytime!

Have a wonderful time at Universal and enjoy your stay at Royal Pacific! :sunny:

I'd pick RPR hands down. We've ahd 2 horrible experiences at HRH. The last was so bad that we would never stay there again.
OTOH the RPR was wonderful. No problems at all and it is a beautiful hotel.

Royal Pacific is wonderful...definately as nice as or nicer than a disney deluxe. Better ammenities, soaps and such..much better quality. Room decor..wonderful and relaxing. Furniture is beautiful. Great restaurant options. Coffee maker in room, mini bar. Front of the line access in the parks.

You just can't beat universal resorts! (Loews Hotels). They are considered botique hotels...because they are a bit larger..with the personal small hotel feel.
