Ok, new quick question.

If I buy into SSR...at 11 months out I can make my reservation at SSR...

At 7 months, then, if there is an opening at Boardwalk, can I then CHANGE my reservation that I originally made at my home resort?

I'm just wondering how all of this works.

Thanks so much for all of your help!

Actually, you can't "change" your reservation at 7 months. What you are technically doing is cancelling your SSR reservation and booking a new BWV reservation. You'll even get a new reservation number.

So yes, you can cancel one reservation and book another depending on availability at the second resort. That's why it's a good idea to book the home resort so you have a fall back plan if the second resort isn't available.

One other note...BWV has a different point schedule than SSR so depending on what you would be booking at BWV, you could end up using fewer points and then you'd have to watch your banking window to make sure you still have time to bank the points. Likewise, if you don't have enough points for a "more point expensive" vacation at BWV, you'd have to use more of your points or borrow from the next year.

So really, it's not as easy as just switching reservations as if it were a hotel. It's not difficult, but there will be a change in your total points available if you do so unless you switch from two resorts with the same point schedules such as VWL to BCV or BWV Preferred.

You will also have come up with the additional points required for the BWV reservation vs SSR reservation.
