how does renting points work

Hello and thanks for reading I am going to dw dec6 for 10 nights I agreed to buy points for 10 dollars each . The other party told me they booked the room at ssr and will send conformation with in ten days then I recieved another reply to sell me points and that person said I couldnt book the entire trip yet because the last days was still to close ? is this correct? also I would like to believe that on this sight we are all doing honest dw business but can help but be cautious how can I be sure I get the points or room I pay for thanks for all your help.

Technically, the only dates your party could have rented for you thus far are the 6th through the 8th. You can only make reservations for the night previously on the day of your check out 11 months in advance. The 6th would have to have been reserved on January 7th, the 7th on January 8th and so on. The earliest one could rent December 9th would be tomorrow, January 12th because of the weekend. I am sure there will be no problem getting what you have contracted for because of the limited number of SSR owners. There is alot of trust required when dealing with DVC points. I have not heard of any reliable information to date that would indicate one of the members on this board was being dishonest.

Yes, it does take a leap of faith to rent. You can alwasy ask for referral or rent from someone who has many posts to get a feel for the person.

I have done both, renting to and from people. A lot of time I find the most comfort when I talk to the person. My first stay was at BWV by renting someone else's pts even though I was a member. We spoke and I sort of felt comfortable after finding out a little more about him. It was actually someone who only posted once.

The second time, I almost went ahead and rented someone's pts but instincts told me something did not feel right (he wanted $$, cashier's check, before any reservation could be made) and I walked away, turned out some people did not problems with him and there was a big thread on it.

The 3rd time, just this past week, I rented 3 nights at WLV from this other DVC member, for whatever reason, I felt comfortable with her and she called me on Friday to give me the confirmation details. I think she is a great and honest person.

You just have to figure out how you can be comfortable with the rental process and the member. It is not worth it to get stressed over it.
