How does parking work as a DVC member?

We will be at the VWL this coming weekend and will have a car for one night. I have never driven to our resort before, do we pay for parking? If so how much? Is there a place to park yourself?
Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Hi! You do not have to pay to park unless you wish to park valet. (Then it will be $12/night plus gratuity.) The self-parking lot is in front of the lodge and the security guard can direct you when you come through the gate.

Since you'll be driving to VWL, if you drive up World Drive to the Magic Kingdom resorts, you will go through the MK parking toll booth. Just tell the CM that you are checking into the VWL and they'll let you through without paying (or you can show your DVC member card). You'll be given a placard (half a sheet of paper) to place on your dashboard after check in. This placard lets you through the gates at other resorts and includes parking at the parks.
