How Does Memory Maker Work at Attractions?

Hi everyone. I'm debating getting Memory Maker (it's the last bit of planning I need to do before I leave in 26 days). How does it work at attractions? Is there someone at the end of the ride who scans your Magic Band with your picture? I would assume if I had my picture taken in front of the castle, that the photographer would just scan my band at that time...Thanks for your help!

In front of the castle and at characters, they scanned one of our bands. At rides, we would go up to the counter, give the our picture number, and scan the band to have it added to our memory maker.

I just booked a package and the CM I spoke to told me that if you have it included in your MYW Package, then you don't even need to have it scanned after the rides- that it is just automatically added to your magic band. I'm not sure how true it is or not, but I literally got off the phone 15 minutes ago and that's what she said.

That's not true, you need to scan your band when you get off.

It is really quick and convenient. Just look at the pics and get your number. Go to the counter, give them the number, tell them you have MM. You tap your band and you are done. The process slows down when they have to explain MM and every other picture option to the people in front of you. :goodvibes

Is there a list somewhere of which attractions have photos?

Well, people have reported seeing attraction photos in their account when they didn't scan their band. I don't know if the long range RFID readers can read your band and know to attach your photo to your account or what.

But to be safe, I would scan your band at the counter. The instructions online actually tell you to do this.

Participating locations:

Space Mountain
Splash Mountain
Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Rock 'n Roller Coaster
Expedition Everest
Dinosaur
Test Track

Can anyone in your party scan their band? We are traveling with my cousins who are staying in a different room. However, they are added to MDE so I made FP+ reservations for them.

Say they ride SM, can they get their photo scanned or do I have to do it since I'm the one "in charge" of MM.

Those people were lucky they didn't have a ton of heartbreak later.

You've got to visit the counter and add your photos.

I've read the same thing. A person got home and received an email about their photos, logged in and found ride photos of themselves. They never scanned their bands at the end of the ride. The RFID recognized them and assigned the photo to their account.

My thought as that was one of the lonely drawbacks to PP+. I missed a few of the attraction photos on 1st trip because I had the "main" card when my boys ran off so everyone having access will be some positive to MM ;)

We just got back from a trip with MM and, despite stopping at every attraction and scanning our band, none of the attraction photos were in our MM account when we returned from our trip. Luckily, I was able to use the "lost photo email" and they found nearly all of them for us, but I absolutely would not trust that the pictures will just be added automatically after riding.

Just have them get a had copy PP card with the picture linked and then add that to your account.

Thank you everyone for all the info. It really helps!
29 trips to Disney World and counting...next stop POFQ March 2014:joker:
25 days to go!!!!pixiedust:

I too got an email about "pictures about to expire" and lo and behold there were tons of ride photos in my account. We NEVER scanned our bands after rides!

Just to be clear, if I've purchased the mm, then it can get each ride photo added to my account? I understand it works best to have them add it to one of our bands.

That is the eventual plan. To have the long range RFID "automagically" apply ride photos to the Magic Bands. It is still in the initial stages and nothing I would count on at the moment.
