How does Magic Express Work?

We have never used the Magic Express we usually get a rental car. Can anyone tell me how this works. Do you have to have a reservation? Do you bring your luggage to them or do they get the luggage? Thanks.

You do have to have a reservation.

They will send you yellow luggage tags. You put the tags on your luggage and then you check them at your home airport. You won't see your bags until they arrive in your room (within 3 hours of you checking in.)

When you get to MCO, you will go to the DME counter, check in, and wait for your assigned bus.

The entire process, from the time your plane lands until you arrive at your resort, usually takes from 60 to 90 minutes.

If you don't want to wait for your luggage at the resort, or are coming in at night and are worried the luggage delivery won't make the cut-off time, you can always leave the luggage tags off and pick your bags up and take them over to the bus line with you. We've done it both ways. If our flight comes in at a decent time, I much prefer just letting Disney handle it. It's nice not to have to go retrieve them and drag them around. If you have already booked your trip and did not add Magic Express, you can call the reservations line and add it. It doesn't cost anything. We never rent a car anymore. We love not having to mess with that.

We will be arriving at night. Will it be a hassle if we pick up our own luggage and bring it to the DME?
