Just curious how the Hall of Presidents handles non-consecutive presidential terms?

Does the narrator call that out, somehow?

Also, is it likely that Disney will make a new animatronic for 47?

Just watched a video of the HoP, and they only say Grover Cleveland once: Arthur, Cleveland, Harrison....McKinley
Thanks. I stand corrected. In my mind I was seeing them come back twice in numerical order.

They might need to adjust the latest one a bit, since he'll be a former and the current president, and would be announced last - didn't have to worry about that with Cleveland. I'm sure they'll figure it out, and it'll save them money on a new figure.

It would probably be best if they changed the current format regardless. The original version did not put the current president in focus, and people love to cheer and boo recent politicians anyway. Just keep it focused on the safe presidents that people like - Washington, Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt - and don't worry about all the names. It's not like it's so popular the way it currently is anyway.

There's always that rumored Muppets takeover too, though I am not too sure about that one.

I may be in the minority, but I like HOP the way it is presented. Being a big history buff, I think it is great to showcase our relatively short history especially to young people that don't seem to be getting the basics. Manner of dress, the way they speak and the historical details in architecture make for a continuity in our US history. Unfortunately, most people will never get to the White House or US Capitol.

I am sorry, but either cheering or booing is unacceptable in this setting. Hopefully, OP was just joking!

A few more wrinkles and a new speech and I think #45 and #47 should be announced separately with the speech at the end.

I agree. I also always liked the way it was presented. It's about history. But probably in the last 20 years or so, the disrespectful cheering and jeering has made it so we don't even go to the show anymore. It's sad and annoying. They're robots - sit, listen, and enjoy the show.

This year will definitely be unique - only happened once before. And if the results had gone the other way, it would have been even more unique and historic! But Disney's had a pretty good idea about who their animatronic options/choices were going to be!! I'm sure they have a plan that will be implemented in 2025..... With the 250th coming up, maybe they'll do something a little different or special......

My family was in the MK today and we visited the Hall of Presidents.

There was polite applause when the narrator got to 45's name. In the moment, the sense of community added to the experience, in my opinion, and didn't feel inappropriate at all. I'm happy and proud to say that none of my fellow guests jeered or mocked any president.

I have no problem at all with respectful and restrained showing of appreciate and affection for our presidents. I hope we can all try to accept that in the positive spirit that it is given.

Simple, just go back to introducing the Presidents and not have the current one have anything to say at all. It worked well that way for years and can do so again. There is no need for it to change whenever we have a new one. He can just be introduced twice. I'm at the point that I don't give a damn one way or the other.

In the long run, I think that would be a good idea. We need a little bit of distance to decide which leaders were truly "historical" and deserving of a "call out" or "speaking role." Disney can stay above the politics of the moment while still celebrating our American history and democratic institutions.

That said, it would be terribly tone deaf for Disney to announce that change after the results of an election are known. If they were truly planning to do that, it would have been far more appropriate to make that announcement at the D23, or, ideally, before any of the candidates announced their run for office.

If they do it now, it will absolutely look political to a great many people. Even many folks that didn't vote for 47 will likely quietly feel this in their hearts, even if they are happy with Disney's decision. I fear that will ultimately be harmful for the attraction, and I hope Disney will tread carefully, here.

They could continue it as it is now… Biden's speaking is limited to the oath of office. Then there’s nothing political or offensive about it, it’s the same for every president. And they don’t have to worry about getting any kind of cooperation for a speech segment every 4 years. Which I think delayed the attraction opening in 2017. That change was not announced, so there’s no need for any kind of announcement this time. It’s just how the attraction evolved. Making changes depending on which political party is in the office is asking for more trouble.
