How does free luggage w/airline preferred status work when leaving MCO on DME?

I flew enough miles this year to obtain preferred status on US Airways. Therefore I don’t have to pay to check in my luggage. Anyone know how that works on the return trip using DME and the resort check-in? Do you still have to call BAGS to get a confirmation number or do I just check in the bags and everything takes care of itself behind the scenes? Thanks in advance!

Based on my experiences you can expect Disney to check your bags as usual and do everything right. Of course that won't stop USAir from loosing, damaging or selling your bag on ebay for your preferred status.

We have status on Delta and had no problem with resort checkin. They apparently can see your status when they print your boarding passes so they know you don't have to pay. They even put a priority tag on our bags so that they get preferential treatment.

They have access to the airlines reservation system. It will automatically come up free. I have the Delta AmEx and checked luggage a week ago at BWV and it came up free for me and my friend on the same reservation.

interesting.... Anyone know if military status works the same way? I was thinking we'd have to check our luggage w/ bell services and take it on the bus ourselves so we could check it personally w/ ID.
