How does Extra Magic Hour affect DCA?

We had been planning on doing DCA on July4th (the 3rd is our first park day and must be Disneyland) however looking at the calendar I see that it is an EMH day. We are staying offsite so we do not have have early entry. It certainly changes any strategy we may have had that day. Are we just doomed to long lines because of it? Specifically with TSMM?

I would say for TSMM you will be doomed. That is really the only one. RSR has FP and you can get those like anyone else. But TSMM will be the big impact.

Typical summer days TSMM will surge up to 40 minutes and it is often worth it to just wait it out and do it. But being July 4 I wonder if it will be worse.

We have found the early morning and afternoon, on July 4th to be wonderful---it's the late afternoon and evening you will have to worry about!

If you don't have EMH, just make sure you get up and get over to line up at DCA, well before its regular opening time(about 40 minutes---earlier if you like;))!

Even with people already in the Park, you'll still be ahead of the game if you can get in before the rest of the masses.

Head straight to TSMM(if that's your goal), and jump in line---it will most likely just get longer throughout the day!

We love being at the Resort on July 4th---it really is do-able in the morning/early afternoon, IF you have a general plan, and proper expectations!

Have Fun---We'll be there too! :thumbsup2

TSMM yesterday was at a 60 minute wait at 10.30. We got in the line but declared NEVER again would we waste that much time.
What was really frustrating is that they weren't filling up the the cars. Every double set of cars had at least one side empty but often two sides were empty.
The time would of been halved if they'd filled the cars. So I don't know why they didn't.

Oh man, that stinks :(

I guess we ARE doomed for TSMM.

This morning for EMH both. RSR & TSMM were both down. TS remained closed for most of the morning. I'm not sure when/if it came back up. There were some pretty upset people around.

TSMM was still down when we left to head to hotel for a break around 3:00. Luckily we got one of those awesome super blue fast passes from a CM during extra magic hour when we checked on the ride a second time. The CMs in the morning were really trying to do their best to make guests happy.
