How does EMM affect RD at DHS?

I was planning to start my day on Wed 2/27, but just realized that they're having EMM that day. I'd hoped to rope drop SDD, but wonder now if I'll find a prohibitive line when I get there? I am staying offsite so am not expecting to be able to book a FP at 30 days most likely.

I could potentially swap my MK and DHS mornings and do MK on Wed and DHS on Fri, but wasn't sure if that was a better plan?

The advertised DHS EMM end time is 8:45am (which is different than MK EMM, which is 9am). Things can vary a few minutes here and there on any given day, but reports on the EMM thread indicate rope drop guests generally arrive in the land in the 8:45-8:50ish range.

As far as crowds, the last thing EMM guests want to do is stick around in the land once the rope drop crowd arrives - most will have had their fill of TSL by that point and will be booking it to other rides in the park or to breakfast (which goes through 10am).

My opinion is EMM is pretty much a non-issue for day guests and not something to rearrange your schedule to avoid. If anything there are a couple of positives in that there’s a reasonably good chance SDD will be up/running when you arrive and you pretty much know approximately when they’ll let you in the land.

Hope that helps.

I agree, we went to DHS on EMM and again on a non-EMM. I couldn't tell the difference in crowds from the EMM versus the non-EMM. Both days were weekdays during a crowded time. If all your plans are already set, I wouldn't worry about switching them around. HTH.

I would expect the EMM people to be out of TSL before the swarms arrive. If you rode it when it was crowded, why would you stick around when it becomes very crowded at park opening.

We did EMM in Nov. Just know that basically the regular rope drop crowd all heads to Toy Story Land. We were leaving Toy Story Land at about 8:50 and the sea of people coming into the land was actually frightening while trying to leave. They were running over us while we were in line to see Buzz. The attendants that led the crowd in had to actually form a wall around us and Buzz so we were not run over.

I wonder if this also applies to MK - EMM?

Wouldn’t change your plans .. we are going to EMM and we fully plan on getting our fill of TSL before rope drop crowds appear :)

My family and I bought EMM for Toy Story land. We plan on getting out of there right when the crowds come. I think we might go to star tours once the park opens. I think most EMM people go elsewhere when the park officially opens, as some like me don't like crowds.

Agree with all the others - We did EMM and at 8:45 we were in front of Toy Story Mania, getting ready to head in when the wave of rope droppers was arriving. It was a lot more frightening than I imagined it to be! However, after we got off of TSMM, we were done with TSL and didn't stick around, so I can't imagine the EMM guests will be mucking up the works back there for the rope droppers. Just make sure you get there for rope drop plenty early so you can be toward the front of the pack. We left the land a few minutes after 9 and the line for SDD actually exited TSL proper by a good distance.

Agreed with the others. I did EMM in the fall. We hopped on TSM as the RD crowds flooded in to avoid the onslaught of people then quickly left TSL.
