We've been back from our Halloween cruise for a few weeks now and I'm just wondering how does DCL draw people in so well?!?

We had our second Disney cruise booked before we went on our first and we booked another while onboard to leave 17 days after we return from our second one! (Does that make sense??)

I've got two other huge vacations planned next year for camping for a week and a Pensacola beach house for a week over July 4th before our next Disney cruise and I'm still checking my Disney countdown clock everyday and making plans for it!!

It's like they put crack in the Mickey bars or something!!!

If you enjoy cruising, it's hard to not cruise. We haven't yet booked a Disney cruise onboard, but the last night of our Royal cruise last month we booked for next September. We just love being on the ocean, and it's the closest to fully relaxing that I personally can get.

So it's not just DCL.

It's in the free " Coke" soda.

Really very simple, DCL deliveries a very special, magical cruise complete with pixie dust and amazing vessels, service and entertainment!

People respond to it!

I agree. I have been on a ton of cruises and can't stay away! LOL! Planning our first Disney cruise so my daughter will get the bug too. LOL!

I took my very first cruise 3 years ago to Alaska and I've been hooked since. Two weeks from yesterday I go on my 5th, 2nd with DCL. Cruising seems to be something you either love or hate. Personally, I LOVE IT!!!!

The only other (and first ever) cruise line we have sailed is the Big Red Boat back in 1987 for our honeymoon. Since then its only been DCL and we don't feel the need to cruise another cruise line in the future. Why, because we believe DCL delivers; we are getting our bang for the buck.
The beauty of the ships, the service given by the CM, the entertainment is fantastic. We will be on the Fantasy this winter and will have been all four ships. But the Magic was before the big makeover, so now we will have to revisit her. And we plan to book while on board for a future Wonder Alaska cruise :cool1: :thumbsup2

As long as DCL keeps up the great service and moves the ships around for new ports of call we will always sail DCL.

That's the answer right there. There is a cruising bug that if you catch it it's tough to want to travel any other way. There is also a Disney bug where if you catch it you become obsessed and find it tough to travel outside the Disney family. Unfortunately, some of us catch both.

LOL, i've caught both, and have been a DVC member since 2008 ;)

I never thought I was made out to be a cruiser, but after my last cruise on the Magic a few weeks ago, my 2nd all together, I have the cruise bug! The best part of the cruise is really getting away from it all and the full immersion, there are no work calls, no e-mails to check because you just can't when you're in the middle of the ocean. It was fabulous and I cannot wait to plan my next one in 2016!

I'm afraid that is me! (Catching both bugs!) We were just talking about this yesterday. My boys are 9 & 11 and are Disneyland veterans and we are all current annual passholders at that park right now with two trips in the past three months. We are going on our second DCL cruise in January and have tacked an extra week to do WDW to the beginning of that trip. I feel like my kids are the perfect age to enjoy all things Disney so we are just taking full advantage of both being on a year-round school schedule this year.

We will also be booking another cruise when we are on board. And I'm constantly trying to figure out when we can get back to DL. It's killing me to be missing the Holiday time there. Unfortunately, the budget doesn't quite stretch that far.

A lot of people think we are crazy, but I know you all understand. :)

This is off topic of DCL BUT I hope you love Pensacola Beach!! This is my home sweet home!:goodvibes:wave2::beach:

I know my friends think we're crazy that we keep going on the cruise year after year. They really don't understand that it truly is as good for us as it is for the kids. My husband isn't a fan of all inclusive resorts because he gets bored so he loves cruising because you see different ports. He also insists on eating well when we go away. Throw in the fact that the kids have the best time and voila - DCL is the perfect fit for us.

I see no end in sight to our cruising - 2015 and 2016 are already booked :)

Disney has built a trusted brand where, at least I, am comfortable dropping my son off at the "kids club" and not worrying constantly.

That's what sets it aside for me. . .

didn't go to wdw till dw and i were 38 and we haven't stopped yet.
went on or first Disney cruise at 45 and can't get enough.
if it wasn't for college for son,dw tied to teacher schedule, being around for aging parents, ect, ect. i would be on a ship now.

It's true that cruising really works well for some people, including my family. I love being out on the ocean--sitting up on an open deck with a book in my lap (but mostly staring out at the endless ocean) is my idea of a perfect vacation right now. And since we have littles, the child care option is perfect.

We spent 2 of the last 3 weeks on cruise ships and I *still* wasn't tired of it ;) It really is the perfect vacation for us right now.

On OP's Fantasy sailing, total pax were 3695, with 1796 repeat DCL sailors, meaning almost half the cabins could have been filled with repeat pax.

Impressive DCL. :thumbsup2

Where'd you get those facts, Bear?
We went on our first cruise with DCL not too long ago. I am officially hooked, my husband was impressed (and it's hard to impress him) but he's not as hooked or interested in talking about future cruises as I am. I think the thing that really impressed us the most was how they well accommodated our dietary restrictions. The ship was also beautiful and kept in impeccable shape. They keep it in better shape than their resorts. When we stayed at a WDW resort after our cruise, I pointed to the stain on our room's floor and told my husband "you wouldn't see something like that on their ship".

Where'd you get those facts, Bear?.....

I asked aboard. We were on the same recent sailing as OP. :)

Here are the stats for Fantasy western C 10/25/14.

Total ................ 3695
Platinum .............. 59
Gold .................. 215
Silver ............... 1495
Total Repeaters . 1769
Newbies ........... 1881
Officer Family ....... 29
CM's on Business .. 16
Under 18 y/o .... 1294
Concierge .......... 141
Non USA ............ 933

All these # are up 5-8% from 2 years ago, same ship, same time, except Platinum sailors was 76 on 10/20/12, an interesting detail.

Did math and created new category, Newbies. :lmao:

Nice! We were actually on the same cruise, too :) We're part of that newbie number. Definitely saw a lot of Silver lanyards.
So do the officers families get to literally live on the Fantasy? Such a dream..
