How does DCL do daylight saving time?

We’re cruising the Fantasy in April. Will the ship be on DST like the rest of the US in that time zone? Just wondering how this works with planning tours at places like Grand Cayman who do not observe DST. Our ashore time is 10:30 and there’s a tour we’re interested at 11:15. If our 10:30 is really 9:30 in GC then we should be ok. Otherwise I don’t think we will.

Your 10:30 ashore time should be the local time of the port you are in. I haven't experienced Disney doing "ship" time like some cruise lines do. They just have you move your clocks during the night to the new times. And yes they put a nice little note on your evening turn down service telling you to move your clocks forward/back and hour. This is a reason why you might want to pack an actual watch. Like the old kind you put on your wrist. The ships don't have to many clocks, and depending on an itinerary you could be moving time a lot (transatlantic). Keeping at least the watch on the current time makes you not late!

Not to hijack the thread but wait until the November fallback time rolls around. FL just voted to stay on DST year-round. No impact this summer but a hot mess this fall.

Sounds good. Wish all the states will wise up. Not really a hot mess. If your on that cruise the one hour extra will be nice to have now you won’t have it.

Wait, what? No time change on the Fantasy this Sunday? What about the rest of the country?

There will be a time change. Arizona and Hawaii stays one time all year long so no time change for them. Guess Florida is going to start soon. This one coming this week might be the last time change Florida will have.

True, but what happens to the Left Coast people come November when there ends up being a FOUR hour difference when travelling.

Some people will forget the time difference when it comes time to book a DCL cruise or your fast passes open up to book. But it will be ok.

Wow I had no idea this was even on the table. It will make vacationing to FL much more time complicated for a lot of people. And wow 4 hours between West coast and FL. Won't that be just awful for travelers.

The article I looked at said the governor still needs to sign it and then US Congress needs to okay the change. So it's not a done-deal yet.

When we come from the UK to Florida we have a five hour time difference .. or to the west coast 8 hour time difference ... just sayin' ;) :)
