we are coming to WDW later this year to celebrate my daughters 18th birthday. She has an ASD/ADD diagnosis. She doesn’t do well with certain things including waiting in lines, being too close to others etc. We are a family of 5 with 2 other teenagers with no other conditions. What would you all suggest?

This article from Walt Disney World Made Easy for Everyone website (diz-abled.com) might help answer your questions. DAS-guide-to-disney-worlds-disability-access-service-system. It won't let me post the link. You might also search the Walt Disney Plan Disney site for dozens of q&a's on the topic from members of the Disney-run PlanDisney site. This form won't let me post the links, so hopefully you can find these sites. Have a magical trip.

:welcome: To the DISboards!

DAS is expected to change this fall with the introduction of Genie/Genie+/Individual Attraction Selections. We are tracking the changes here.

The basics:
  • Go to Guest Relations at a park.
  • Explain your/your child’s needs as it pertains to waiting in a standard queue environment. No diagnosis, just needs.
  • They will take a picture of the DAS-holder and link the rest of your party. All done via MagicBand or hard plastic ticket.
  • Anyone in your party can go to an attraction and request a DAS return time. It will be equivalent to the standby minus 10 minutes.
  • Go do something else - bathroom break, snack, another attraction, etc.
  • When that return times comes around - or later as DAS times are good all day - the party goes to the attraction and the DAS-holder must scan first. You’ll be allowed into the FP queue (which will soon be called the Lightning Lane).
  • Only 1 DAS return time may be held at once. Must use or cancel before getting another.
Feel free to ask questions as you are planning. I’m going to move this to the main disABILITIES Forum.
