How does banking points work?

I'm sure this has been gone over a million times but I can't find it.
I am waiting to close on a 100 point contract at BWV with a December Use Year. We will have 100 points from 2005 & 100 points from 2006 banked. Can I use them (if I'm lucky) all for a trip this November? Will they all expire this December or just the 2005 points?

I'm a bit confused about your comment about the 2005 and 2006 points being banked.

If you banked the 2005 points, then they were banked into 2006 which means you can use them from 12/1/06 - 11/30/07. If you banked the 2006 points then you can use them from 12/1/07 - 11/30/08. The only way to use these points on the same reservation is if the reservation overlaps the two use years, i.e. 11/28/07 - 12/5/07.

If banked, the 2005 points will expire on 11/30/07. If you did not bank the 2006 points, then they also will expire on 11/30/07.

Did you bank BOTH years or only the 2005 points ?

The contract we are purchasing had 100 points already banked from 2005. The seller banked 2006's points a couple of weeks ago so we wouldn't lose any since I was told the cut off date for banking is 6 months out and that would be 5/31/07 with a December contract.
Will that give me a total of 200 banked points? Or am I losing 100 points by banking the 2006 points as well.

If the 2006 points have already been banked, they are not available to use for a reservation this year until after 12/1/07. The banked '05 points MUST be used BEFORE 12/1/07. You will still have up to 200 points to use between now and 11/30/07 as long as you borrow your 2007 use year points. Those 2006 points, though, can only be used between 12/1/07 and 11/30/08.

Okay, I think I'm getting it now. If I, by some miracle, can book a 2 bedroom at BWV for 11/11-11/15 (that's about 120 points I think) I can use my banked 2005 points and my 2007 points.
For my trip in July 2008 I can use my 2006 points and the remaining 2007 points.

It's not always easy to figure this stuff out. Everyone over on the DVC boards is usually very happy to help you newcomers out. Enjoy your trip. And if you can't get BWV, try to get SSR or OKW. You won't go wrong.

December use year seems to confuse folke the most, because you don't actually get your points until the last month of the year. It always seems like December use year foks are a year behind.
