how does bag check for the 5K work?

I'm new to runDisney and while I wanted to register for the Princess Half, it was sold out by the time I made my decision. So, I'm doing the 5K with some friends instead.

Can someone explain to me how bag check works? I want to run and avoid returning to my resort, so will bring everything I need for the day.

At the expo you'll be given a large, clear plastic bag when you pick up your bib - this is your gear bag. You'll also be given a sticker with your bib number on it that you need to stick on the bag.

When you get to the race staging area before the start you'll see a big sign for gear bag drop-off. You drop your bag off and they will have it for you at the finish area. Pick-up will be arranged by (I think) by first letter of last name, then by bib number, so you'll still need to be wearing your bib to pick up your bag.

Again, the bags are plastic, so you can't fill them TOO much. At least I tried to not, didn't want the thing to rip. You also can't have, you know, weapons and whatnot inside. I'm pretty sure they're frowning on liquids now too due to security reasons. Speaking of security...expect that your bag may be search by an officer and/or a police dog.
