How does a waitlist work?

This is the first time I've waitlisted for something, and I'm not entirely sure how it works. If there is a cancellation, does the computer immediately cancel our old reservation and book the new one? Is it always checking for cancellations? Would it be better for me to call Member Services every day to have them manually check for availability?

The computer is supposed to always be looking for a match for a particular waitlist in the order in which it was received. According to MS they will automaticly change the reservation and post it on the Member Website.

I have heard of Members that have called frequently to check the status of a waitlist only to be surprised that low and behold thier waitlist had just came through. I guess its a personal choice to just trust the system or call constantly. Good luck!
