How does a rainy day effect Universal? Rides? Crowds?

We're going to Florida a week from tomorrow :) We have 2 days planned for Universal/IOA. So far, there is only rain forecasted for 1 day of our trip (although I know it can/will change). I'm wondering -- how does rain effect things at Universal? Do any rides have issues when it's wet? Do the crowds get lighter? Should we try to avoid the parks if it's in the forecast?

Thanks so much!!!

It depends. If it's thunder and lightning they will close the rollercoasters. But thiers plenty to do.Most of the attractions are inside. As far as crowds, they do seem to thinout. Hope this helps.:thumbsup2

Lightning can affect IOA quite a bit, since many of the rides are tall and outdoors. A large portion of the park shuts down. However, most of the rides at USF are indoors, so it isn't an issue there. Plan accordingly.

I agree.....if it rains, US is your best bet.

During thunderstorms the water taxis may stop running too. So if you want to head back to your resort, cut off the crowds and head to the busses.

I have only experienced this during the hot hazy late summer days when the thunderstorms roll in and can be quite severe.

Usually the rain lasts for 15-20 minutes and the sun comes back out, not to worry!

Are you talking September time? I'm keeping my fingers crossed and knocking on wood it doesn't rain too bad while I'm there. Already plaining on getting a semi-cheap rain poncho from wal-mart (want a somewhat good quality one so it'll last the week). Almost right at 4 months left!! :woohoo:

Truth. Rain just gets you wet. Hulk may close if the train isn't able to launch, which is rare.

i love to ride rollercoasters in the rain, although the drops can hurt.

We were in US a couple of weekends ago. It was horrible, stormy weather, pouring rain, thunder, etc. I thought the place would empty out, but it didn't. The lines stayed pretty full the rest of the day. The only ride that closed down was Jaws. The rest of the attractions are indoors, so I guess people figure that they can either walk that long walk to the parking deck in the rain, or they can run from building to building in the rain and stay in the park.

Just wanted to add - usually when rain is in the forecast in central FL, it doesn't last all day - usually afternoon pop up showers. In over 12 trips, this was the first one where we had rain lasting most of the day.

If you're going to be in any park on a rainy day, I'd say US is the best since everything is pretty much indoors.

For some reason whenever me and my family go it rains in Seuss Landing.:confused3
But anyway, it only rains for a lil bit most of the time. So when it rains go to the indoor rides. Or go have lunch inside if you havent already.popcorn::
