How does a Grand Gathering work for DVC ?

My family would like to plan a Grand Gathering or Magical Gathering(whatever the name is ) for a DVC stay for 21 people tentatively for summer 2008. How does this work for DVC and has any one done this that would like to share how it worked for them ? Thanks !

I am curious about this as well. Will our confirmation numbers work in the Grand Gatherings system? I haven't made the ressies yet, so I am trying to figure out how it will all work.

We did this in January of 2006. We made reservations for one two bedroom villa and two studios. I had to borrow most of my points from 2007 but we made it work. We then had DVC set up a grand gathering number, then had to call grand gatherings as well. We were able to book any of the grand gathering events with no problem. IMO the best was the wishes grand gathering cruise. It was a dessert buffet then out to see/hear the wishes fireworks.

One other nice thing was the CM at check in told us since we were a GG that the rooms had been blocked together prior to our check in.

I think this may be the most important information. I have heard otherwise you cannot guarantee multiple villas will be even close by. This feature alone would be worth registering as a Grand Gathering (unless you wanted the extra "space" from your family members). Thank you for the info.
