How does 11month window work with 50 point add on?

I own at SSR and have only stayed at this resort but I've been reading the posts for BLT, if I buy 25 or 50 points for BLT, how does the 11 month window work to reserve at BLT with points? If I reserve a week, I assume they use my 50 BLT points and pull my points for the SSR contract? Does this get me a week at the 11 month window? Thanks!

You can only book at BLT the number of nights that BLT points will cover at 11 month window and you can only book at SSR the number of nights that your SSR points will cover at 11 month window; you may not combine BLT points with SSR points to book at either BLT or SSR until 7 months or less.

But you can bank BLT points to have double allotment of BLT points to use EOY at BLT at 11 month window or bank & borrow BLT points to have triple allotment of BLT points to use every 3rd year at 11 month window and do same with SSR points.

:goodvibes

If you do an add on at BLT then you have the 11 month advantage only for the amount of points you have at that particular resort. So in your example, you might get a night or two at BLT at the 11 month mark and then have to switch to SSR to keep the 11 month advantage or call again at the 7 month mark and keep your fingers crossed.

That is why a lot of people do their booking at their home resort at the 11 month resort to be sure that they have a room and then try the switch and/or waitlist at the 7 month window.

Good luck with your planning!

We just bought 160 Points at BLT but we mostly stayed at the Yacht Club before. I was thinking about adding on at Boardwalk since I think a lot of our stays would be over there. Does this mean I would need to add enough points at Boardwalk to book our entire stay if I wanted to get in the 11 month window?

your 160 BLT pts would be useless in booking BWV at 11 months out - BLT pts can only be used to book BWV at 7 months out - so the answer is yes.

Small conracts at a specific resort need to use banking and borrowing to get the 11 month booking advantage. For example: you bank one year of 50 points, and in the next year you use the current year's 50 along with the banked 50 plus you can borrow up to 50 from the next use year. In that way, you would only have three times the amount of points to use at the 11 month window at any one time.

Yes, if you wanted to be able to book at the 11 month window. Or you could book at your home resort of BLT at the 11 month window and try to switch at the 7 month window.

Depending on when you want to switch it might be hard, i.e. the BWV and BCV are popular at F&G festival.

That is why they say buy where you want to stay. That is why we have added on twice now and have three home resorts -- beware of addonitis. I think a stay at a new BLT resort would be fun.

Also, if you are thinking of adding on at BWV you may want to at least ask Disney about the costs. Our first points were from VWL in 2007. Because we have a Dec UY we got 2 years worth of points right of the bat, plus no ROFR, points to book within a day, and it was so, so easy. Of course, the resale market was little different then, too. That's my 2 cents worth on the subject.

Enjoy your DVC and welcome home!

The 11-month window is often described as the owners' booking window but it is really the "home resort points" booking window. You must have enough points from that resort in your account to pay for the reservation you want to book. You don't even have to be an owner to book a resort 11 months from check in. I don't own BLT but I could have BLT points transferred to my account from a BLT owner's account and use those points to book BLT 11 months from check-in since transferred points retain their home resort.

What a lot of us do in your situation is buy enough points to book a stay every other year (by banking or borrowing points) or every third year (by banking and borrowing points).
