How do your kids carry around their KTTW card?

I was just wondering since we'll be traveling with friends and our kids are old enough to be on their own for short periods of time(in pairs of course).

My dd's had laynards to keep theirs in. I read a great idea on the boards about getting a suction cup with a hook on it for everyone to hang their laynards on. We didn't do that on our last cruise and we were always looking for our laynards!!

We use lanyards too. They are an easy way for them to carry their KTTW card. Don't put any arcade cards near the KTTW card, it causes them not to work.

Why would they need their card with them? I have three sons and don't plan on giving them charging privlidges. Any other reason why they should carry them?

KTTW...Key to the World

Its the card you use to open your door at the resort (if doing land/sea) and cruise room. You can also use it to charge purchases, if you choose this option.

My son wears cargo shorts. One set of pockets has velcro. He'll keep it in there. That is, if we allow him to check in/out of the lab.

They sell the lanyards on board with pockets to put the KTTY cards in. I saw some at the Guest Services desk and also in the shops. I saw lots of kids wearing their cards on lanyards and were able to get in and out of their staterooms on their own.

So they can get in their stateroom.

We just got back on Thursday from our 4 day cruise.

My dd (11) carried her card in her pocketbook (she carried it with her everywhere). My ds (8) just hooked the badge he received from the kid's club to his shorts. The badge had room for the card.

Kids who can check themselves in and out of the clubs will need them.

I'm not sure what the policy about the lanyards is now, but here is a head's up. Last year when ds-12 at the time went into the club, they took just his card and not his lanyard (of course the nice one that I had just purchased on board). He set it down by the computer he was at. Evidently, they all got up to do something and it wasn't there when he got back.

I don't know if a counselor picked it up or not. I would definitely write a name on it if you can. At least if a counselor picks it up, then can get it back to them.

I have found anice way to hold the KTTW card, and to not worry about it slipping out of the lanyard pocket, or be set down after using it, is to actually punch a hole in the card with a hole puncher, and then attach it to a lanyard with a catch on it. This way you can use it while it's still attached, and then put it right back around your neck!

Is this ok with DCL? I think this might be better than having a pouch since they wouldn't have to take it in/out, but just grab it and use it.

We just got back from the "slightly shortened" 9/18 Magic Eastern. It was our first cruise, my boys mostly just put their KTTW Cards in their pockets, thought I did get them "badge holders".

They have hole punchers at guest services for you lanyard loverspirate:

I love the idea of using a laynard for the kids to carry their cards, but I thought I would mention that you can buy these at most any office supply store for less than $1 a piece. They won't have Mickey on them unless you use a sticker, but they won't cost you an arm or an ear either.

I purchased a package of them to use at my son's birthday party at a local laser tag place, so I had some left over for this trip.:sunny:

My three boys carry their KTTW cards in their pants pockets. They even have swimtrunks with pockets big enough to hold it. HTH
