keep track of what you have to be scrapped? Do you have a spreadsheet? Notebook? Please share! I have 4 years of scrapping to catch up on and need to organize!

Well all my printed pics are in order by year, so that's easy. The digital stuff is sorted by trips and chronologically so I write out a list for that. Say the April WDW trip, I have pics 1-50 printed so I know next time to print 51-100.

when I kit the pages, those go in a separate notebook, with page #'s if I'm using a sketch. along with a list of things that need to be cricuted.

is that what you were looking for?

Wow!!! Organize pictures??????? What's that? Ok, add that to my goals for 2008. I have a plastic 3 drawer bin FULL of pictures from the early 90's to probably 2001 when I got my first digital camera. :scared1: They are not organized in any form or fashion. Then I have all the pictures on the computer that haven't been printed. I need to think through this as well.

My digital are all sorted by year and event. I am really bad about printing until I'm ready to scrap, that may be part of my problem.

That's how my digital are sorted too. And since I have kids they are sorted by kids as well. I generally don't print them until I am ready to scrap them because I don't have tons of room.

My film photos are sorted by year w/ post-it notes on a index card...and than I noted the specific event on anothe color post-it the same way... Yep, the index card company is loving me...as well as the post-it people.. I should really invest in the stock for that company!
Anyway, digital is by date and event (some have several events on it...but I know what is there because I'm the one taking all the photos, hence the reason mommy is never at the events.... yeah, right!)
As for what books need to be done... this year I have a book started w/ monthly goals of what I want to accomplish. I have several projects in the works each month so that I don't get ovewhelmed.
Here is my goals for this month:

CJ for Jan. Done just need to mail
2007 Year in Review (need a catchier title)
~ Will complete Jan 2007
~ Nov & December 2007
2008 Creating Memories of Us
~ Will complete pages every 2 weeks of the month
(can do a lot w/ sn** days, NYE, Basketball, fun weekend planned)
Complete DD's First Year Baby Book
~ have been working on it for a while and its almost done
Complete 3- Valentine's Day Envelope Books
~ I just need to alter the front/backs and decorate in Valentines attire
and these will hold my kids valentine's day cards from their school years K-6 (not cool in Jr. high/hs)
Finish Christmas Memories Album (this will bring it current through 2007)
~ I have been working on this for several months and the photos except for the last 3 years were already printed and ready to go... It's the photos that are very special to us... and than the extras will be spread out into the kids' individual year albums and the family year album.

Than last night, I reorganized my goals for each month through May. There is a list of about 5 things each month... My goal is to be current on 2008/finished with 2007/finished w/ several other small projects...and in June can start on 4-H albums for fair in July and 2006 family album...

I made a list last night I just need to come up with something to keep track. The list looks something like this:

Dolphins @ Pats - 10.10.04
ESPN The Weekend - 8.04
Lobsterfest - 10.04
Thanksgiving - 10.04
Universal Trip w/Kells - 3.04
Christmas - 3.04

Etc. Those are the ones I printed last night. I have TONS more than that so I want to be sure I can keep track of what I have to do, what's been done and I can add to it as needed

Just get a small notebook and write in the tasks you want to complete and check them off as they are completed. Add more as you find/print things.

All my pictures are sorted in my CM mini sort or CM Power Layout that need to be scrapped.

If I don't use the picture, when I am done with that group of pictures, I put the extras in my CM Power Sort box, chronologically. I sometimes use those pictures in later projects.

I have about 7 years of pre-digital pics of vacations and a couple of holidays that I have sorted into a Creative Memories Power Sort box. I was lucky that all of those pics fit in one box. I'm still trying to figure out how to scrap those.

Then I have all of my professional wedding and engagement photo proofs and all of the negatives for both in a box. I need to buy a negative scanner to convert them to digital because I can't afford to print them from the negatives since that costs mucho dinero. We are researching scanners right now. I'm planning to do a formal wedding album, a casual wedding album (with snapshots from guests) and an engagement photo album. I also want to get my proofs into some sort of album but I think I'll go with more of a traditional photo album for that.

And last but not least, I have all of my digi pics dating back to December 2005 when we purchased our first digi camera. I have all of my digi pics categorized using the Creative Memories Memory Maker software. It allows me to organize my pics easily by multiple categories including date, subject, sub-album, etc.

I generally print about 50 pics at a time per album right now. This might change if I ever start scrapping faster. I don't really have a formal list of the albums I'm working on at the moment but I do keep a mental list.

Current projects:
2006 Life album (6 pages left to do)
2005 WDW trip (I've only done about 8 pages)
2006 DL trip (four pages done)
on-going work for my Junior Girl Scout album
small album from 3 earlier DL trips

I still need to start:
formal wedding album
casual wedding album
engagement photo album
kitty album
Vacation album from 1999 through 2005
Brownie Girl Scout album (same troop but I started with my current stuff)
2007 Life album

I think the reason I don't write it down is because I get depressed with how much I have to do. :headache:

I hear ya! Looking at my pictures, '04 is a lean year - I think it's because in June that year my then-boyfriend of 3 1/2 years left FL to go to CA for law school, we broke up not long after that. I just didn't do much picture taking in the early part of the year and didn't scrap at all in '03 or '04.

I think I'll do an '04 & '05 combined album; one for '05 and one for '07. I have a Washington DC album to do and a Disney album to do (I have scrapped my 12/04 and 10/06 trips, I need to do my 9/07 trip. weekend trips just get a double page spread in the yearly album). It's so overwhelming!

I'm a compulsive list maker (it drives everyone besides me nuts!!). I go ahead and print pics usually 2-5 times a year (if we go on a vacation, those get printed when we get back and don't count in that total). I sort them into a CM Power Sort box and make lists of what's when, as well as "Page 1 R is the cover, Page 2 L is blah-blah-blah". I think I make lists just because it makes me happy to check things off!

Here are my January goals:

1. Finish 2006 album
2. Start 2007 album and scrap January and February in that (if not more, but definitely those 2).
3. At the end of January, order pics for 2008 album to have ready to scrap in February.
4. Start on any one of the other "behind" albums.

My plan is to try to do 2 months of the 2007 album each month of 2008 (so it would be done in June) as well as doing the months of 2008 in the following months (Jan in Feb, etc.). I don't know if it'll work, but it's worth a shot! :)

OOOO- I really like that idea! That makes it feel much more do-able.

That 2 months a month in 08 for 2007 is what I am doing... I'm kind of working backwards because those memories are FRESH!!! Jan 07 & Jan 08 are close to the same w/ basketball and NYE... so I'll work on those at the same time...

I need to order photos too.. York photo is having a 5 cent sale.. I've used them before and have had good luck with them... I plan to order tomorrow..

If anyone needs photos quickly, Walgreens is having a 10 cent sale - code JOY

I have a question for all y'all.

DH and I don't have kids and we don't always take pics of stuff every month. I filled an entire album for 2006 because DH took me on a surprise trip to LA for my b-day but normally, I don't have nearly enough stuff to do one album a year for our regular Life albums.

Right now, I have a whole bunch of individual vacations from 1999 to 2005. Each one won't fill an album but will probably fill around 3 collectively. I also have about 10 layouts total from 2007 and no idea what I'll end up with for 2008.

How would y'all organize that? I named my 2006 album, "Moments in Time" and will tack on a volume number when I figure out how to do the vacations. Would you just stick 2007/2008/etc. in the next volume and keep going. How would you do the all the trips from '99 to '05?

TIA for the help. This one has me stumped!

I don't have kids but I do have a 5 year old niece who I'm really close to (DSis and I are taking her for her first Disney trip later this month!) but I take pictures all the time.

I'm trying to do a bit more of the "everyday" pictures. I got DBF a grill for Christmas so I took pictures of the first use. I'll do a "Man and his Grill" page. I do scrap chronological so when an album is full, I move on to another one.

Shauna - I stopped worrying about how the years and albums fell because it was driving me crazy. Some years are their own album and some are combined. I had an even trickier situation in that everything up through 2005 was 8.5x11 then in 2006 I switched over to 12x12. I still have 3 vacations from 05 that I never scrapped - at first I was going to do 8.5x11 and put them with the 05 stuff, but I don't really want to go back to that size, so I decided to do a "Travel" album and put all those together, which will probably be 1-2 albums depending.

Since I have kids I'm doing the family albums in 2 years batches... Since I photograph about everything I have a lot of photos to choose from...and I find myself wanting to scrap everything...
Our vacation are in their own books and a smaller layout in the family albums...
Than the kids will have their own albums... I've broken them down as by their birthday for the first year... than year 2-5 is in a book.. than I broke their next books down by which school they were in.. K-3; 4-6; middle school; high school..but it will include everyday life in it as well... Than they will have their own sports books that will be through the years from 4-HS...plus any other books I put together for them.. 4-H; special trips like Washington, DC..etc...

Do you do title pages for your albums? How do you delineate which layouts belong to which year?
