How do you use your snack credits?

Do the restaurants/carts have signs/labels posted stating what food items can be purchased using dining credits, or do we have to ask at each establishment? I'm mainly interested in snack items.

My family is using the dining plan for the first time, and I'm confused about trying to figure out what foods we can or cannot buy? I saw that handy snack list posted on the Dis- it will help out a great deal (excellent job), but in case I don’t have it with me- will I be completely lost?

I guess you could say I'm crazy, but I went through our schedule, and planned out my top 6 snacks.

1. Cinnamon Roll - Main St Bakery
2. Pork Egg Rolls $3.29(AK) or Hot Fudge Sundae $3.99 (Dino-Bite AK)
3. Pastries from Boulangerie Patisserie (3.25-3.95)
4. Spicy -Cheese Stuffed Pretzel $3.79 (DHS)
5. Dole whip Pineapple Float $3.49 (MK)
6. Strawberry Shortcake Sundae - 3.99 (MK)

I am willing to settle for other snacks, but here's my preferred list. I would definitely not use a snack credit on a bottle of water. I'll be bringing my own from a case I purchased at BJ's.

I don't carry water bottles around the parks; I would rather ask for ice water or drink from the water fountain. So, if it's really hot, I think I may be buying water, but I will probably pay OOP. It's moments like this I think having a stroller and diaper bag wouldn't be the end of the world, just to have a place to stow big stuff!

Your not crazy- I've been doing the same thing!! My DD thinks I'm a nut case! Hey- I want to get the most for my mula!;)

All I know is I WILL have one of those pretzels at Epcot. The almond one. Holy H it looks awesome!

You get a juice and a non-alcoholic bev. Since we already got coffee in our resort mugs, we asked for 20 oz bottled water as our non-alcoholic bev. Great way to get H2O without using a snack credit.

We are driving in and will have cases of h20, pop, and Crystal Lite packets. So I plan on using the credits for a few take-home treats. But mainly for my 2 year old son, since he is too young to be on the plan and Disney allows us to share with him. So I will be "sharing" bowls of soup, chili, fruit, and other meal-like snacks with him to avoid having to buy at least one kids meal per day.

On the way out of Epcot we buy several of the Ham & Cheese Croissants - at Boulangerie Patisserie and take back to our room for breakfast. They always are helpful and pack them in boxes for us. These are good cold or heated in the microwave. Occasionally I will open the box and find a few pastries stashed in there by by DH and DS. I used to wonder why they would always volunteer to let me sit at the fountain and they would go buy the croissants ;)

We use most of them for drinks and a few for treats like pretzels, ice creams and things like that. In June it gets so hot that what I really need more than anything is a bottle of water! Plus on the DxDP you are not really that hungry for snacks all the time so we would never come close to using them all if we didn't get drinks. I'd also rather not pay oop for drinks just so I can stock up on candies to bring home since we don't have a ton of people we need to buy things for when on trips, so it just wouldn't make sense for us. As long as you use them, it's not a waste.

I do like looking at the pictures of all the snack credits and planning out what I'll get though! And when I look at the confirmed credits list, I have lots of big plans...I just never quite get to them when I'm actually there. Which is probably much better for my waistline anyway!

On our last day, we had about 12 snack credits left. We walked into the confectionary on Main Street and a cast member told us we could get anything under $4. We found a ton of goodies for out road trip back to Texas.

This is our first time using the DDP. I'm wondering if people use their snack credits on drinks or save them for the good stuff. We drink a lot and often but I hate to waste them on bottled water or coke when I could have a pastry from France or a baked potato at LS. I have heard other DISers say that the DDP is a lot of food so I guess I want to know if others pay out of pocket for these drinks or just go ahead and burn those snack credits?
Thanks for helping me plan down to the smallest detail:rotfl:

the trip before that my mom and I got a parfait for breakfast every morning (yum!) as a snack,

Where did you get your parfaits from. We will be at POR and have the QSDP. I love parfaits and could easily have that for breakfast most mornings as a snack. TIA.:)

Thanks everyone for the advice. It seems like there is not a consensus if it's a good idea to use snacks credits for drinks. I'm thinking maybe those frozen cokes or lemonades may look like a good snack option for us when we're thirsty. Has anyone tried them?
love the frozen lemonades!!

They have them at POR at the Riverside Mill. Never tried them but here is a link with pictures from their foodcourt. Check out Riverside and Riverside Mill in the Dining and Drinking section!:thumbsup2

What an unbelievable website!!! I absolutely love it! :worship: Thanks so much for sharing it! Do you know of any more websites like that on WDW Resort Hotels?

I'm so excited that I'm not the only one who brings fun things home from France on our last day! We thought we were crazy for having so many snacks left at the end of our trip!
