How do you use your Disney Visa Rewards?

We ordered our card for a trip last June and used the Reward Dollars to pay nearly $600 of our trip. We just charged everything to our room. In December, we took the Reward card to DTD and had the Reward Dollars balance transfered to the Reward card and used it to pay for over $300 of our room and again charged all meals, etc. to our room. We found out that you can call from any phone and have the balance transferred to the card.

I would recommend that you order the Reward Card a few weeks before you go on your trip. When you order the Reward Card, ask how long it takes for the Reward Dollars to be credited to your account when the charges are applied to your account balance. (How long does it take for the Rewards to be available for use.)

On the trip, charge everything (meals, souvinears, etc.) to your room key up to a couple of nights before you check out of the hotel, then go to the front desk and ask to pay for your room bill up to that point using your Disney Visa, then continue to use your room key to pay for your meals, etc. for the remainder of the vacation. Call Bank One the night before you checkout and transfer the balance of your Reward Dollars to the Reward Card. When you check out, pay your final bill using the Reward card first to use up the Reward Dollars and pay the remaining balance with another credit card or traveler's checks. That way you get the most Disney Rewards and don't leave any Disney Reward Dollars on your account when you stop using your Disney Visa.

We use our Disney Visa to pay for everything we can and pay off the balance on-line twice a month, much like a check-card in reverse, and accrue as many of the Reward Dollars as we can. We have accrued nearly $900 in a little over a year now. We have had other "reward" cards and never saw any of the rewards: unused frequent flyer miles on an airline that may not be in business in another six months? Cash back only if we keep a high balance and pay a high interest rate? At least this way we have reaped some rewards and it hasn't cost us anything in the process. That's free money for us!

I'm sorry it wasn't a successful program for you. I'm sure it isn't for others as well. For us and many others it is.

I never knew this. I thought rewards dollars weren't available until the end of the billing cycle. Thanks for posting!

I just paid off my husband's DV card and I was thinking about ordereing the reward card and use it at the disney store to purchase disney dollars. Then I'll cancel his card and then get another one to take advantage of the 50 free reward dollars when you open an account.

That way I won't lose the reward dollars I've earned! :cool1:

I like to pay airfare and hotel in full before we go and then use my rewards card for food, souveniers, and whatever else I need while there. Last time I had 750.00 dollars to spend on my card, we use it for everything and pay it off every month. It is amazing how fast those points add up. I just wish they would offer some kind of discount at Disney World like they did last year. There hasn't been anything in quite a while. :rolleyes1

I could be wrong about this, so it would be best to check when you order the Reward Card before you leave. If I'm wrong, you could call Disney and pay the hotel part of the vacation with the Disney Visa during the billing cycle before you leave and use a different credit card or traveler's checks for the expenses during the trip. But I think we waited 'till we got to Orlando to transfer to maximize the Reward Dollars we would have available for the trip.

From other posts, it appears that Disney Stores won't be getting any more Disney Dollars until May.

I usually only have about $50 on my rewards card by the time I go to WDW. I use it for a special souvineer that I otherwise probably wouldn't spend the $$ on. Last May, I bought a pal mickey and in december I bought the Polynesian sweatshirt jacket I wanted.
