How do you upgrade?

Sorry if this has been asked a thousand times already...

here's the deal booked Dec 10-15 at CBR with pin# for approx. $1640. how would I go about upgrading? I have read reports of upgrading from other mods to AKL for approx $12.
Do you just call and ask?
Do you have to have a code, and would I be able to combine it with the PIN#?
Would it be nuts of me to hope for a cheap/free upgrade to BWI? (DD3 opens Birbaum's to the page with pic of the clown slide a BWI's pool every time and REALLY wants to ride it!! )
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

My guess is that they were booked at mods at rack rate and upgraded to AKL with a code or PIN or maybe even an upsell was offered. You can't combine discounts so it is either a code or a PIN. Just call and hope for a patient CM and ask them for quotes on the different resorts and ask if there are any discounts available to you.

Yup, you call and ask if there are any deluxe hotels available for your stay using the code.

They will let you know whether or not anything is available.

Also, if there is nothing for your stay, asked about a split stay. That is if you don't mind doing it of course. That is how we got our discount.

We booked CSR Dec 1-9 in April. Then we got the Visa code discount. I asked about upgrading to the Poly and nothing was available. I then asked about AKL and they said nothing was available. I then asked about splitting my stay and they said they could book 4 nights AKL and 4 nights CSR for $300 cheaper than what we were paying for CSR all 8 nights. I jumped on it of course! So now I get to stay at two resorts I have never stayed at. I am so excited!!!

So just call and ask. It can't hurt, right!!

We crunched the same numbers for a moderate and a deluxe. We are going Dec 13-18 and looked at POR and BWI. The difference was roughly $1,000 between the two resorts (no dining plan, two adults, 1 child).
We used the ZQG code and ended up booking at BWI with a $270 savings.
A free upgrade...miracles happen (along with a liberal sprinkling of pixie dust), I just wouldn't count on it
