My DD dislikes AK, mainly because it is just too hot! :sunny: We always end up leaving before I get a chance to see the parade. Each time I vow to see it, and don't!

If we go early a.m. to get some cool time, I miss the parade again. Anybody have a good strategy for touring AK???

Thanks.

I've been there. It took me 3 trips to the AK to see the parade. Now I've seen it only twice, but I do love it. It really should be seen.

Anyhow, the 2 times I have stayed for the parade we did get there at opening. We pretty much saved both Tarzan Rocks and the FOTLK for afternoon (no walking in the heat). Also, if you haven't seen it the Flights of Wonder show really is great. Also a great chance to get out of the sun. It's really a small hidden gem I think. We do the walking trails and the safari early as well as Dinoland. Then it's lunch and off to the shows and then the parade w/ snacks!! We always leave right after the parade even if the park is still open.

The only tip I really have about AK is to do the safari as soon as you get there in the morning. It can get long lines and the animals are out more in the mornings (esp in the summer when it gets outrageously hot :sunny: ). You can grab a FP for Dinosaur before you go on the safari and ride Primeval Whirl (I love that ride!) before or after Dinosaur depending on crowds.

I really should try the parade the next time I go. I tend to nix parades beacuse I hate large masses of people :crowded:

We too usually do the safari ride first. Then we head over to Dinoland for all those attractions, do the walking tours, get a fast pass for the raft ride, and stop for lunch at Flame Tree(it has really calm and cool seating in the shade near the river-perfect place to relax and cool off). After lunch, we begin the shows so that we aren't in the hot sun. Soon it's time for the parade. Don't forget to check for characters at Camp Minnie Mickey-there usually are not a lot of people there. We are almost always finished seeing the entire park by the time the parade begins. Hope you enjoy it-the parade is our favorite!
