How do you tell them?

I am taking my DD5 this April to see my sister and brother perform at Magic Music Days in the MK. She doesn't know yet, and i'm trying to figure out how to tell her.

The day we leave, she has kindergarten. Part of me wants to wake her up, make her mickey shaped pancakes, have her watch the planning DVD and tell her then, but it might be cruel and unusual punishment to then send her to school! I'd get a phone call 10 minutes later syaing "Come get her"...lol

I'm also thinking just wait until we go to the airport and tell her when we get there, but I don't think i'll be able to bottle it up that long!

How do you spring the surprise on your kids when it's a secret?

I've heard of people doing the airport thing and it being a lot of fun, just make sure that's not the expectation everytime you go to the airport. ;)

We were on the plane once, and the parents had the flight attendant announce to their daughter that they were on their way to WDW! :)

That is an AWESOME IDEA...I never even thought of that! I wonder if our flight would do that. Who do we ask? I think that is going to be the one we do... she will be so surprised!!

In 2004, we were lucky to try Poly Concierge once. We asked them to write a letter to our DKs from Lilo & Stitch at the Resort and had it mailed to us. I intercepted it and put it in the mailbox the last day of school. When they got home, I casually asked my DS to check the mail. I can't begin to describe the pandemonium. On top of all that, my DW made a chicken and pineapple "luau" for the family that night (and I made virgin coladas for all). It was truly unforgettable.

We surprised our kids last year. We didn't tell them till we were at the airport boarding the Magic Express. :wizard: The only problem was keeping all the planning a secret. Also, at the border (we are from Canada but flew out of Buffalo) the customs guy asked us where we were going and my DH handed him the printed Ressie with all the info on it and had written on the top, "the kids don't know it is a surprise" The officer was so nice and just said have a great time.

They thought we were going to an island. My daughter was so surprised she cried on the bus.

When we were in the MK and watching Wishes she turned to me and said "Mommy wishes really do come true" I started crying myself. It was worth it.
