How do you tally inches lost? Do you just take a cumulative total, like 1 inch from the bust plus 2 inches from the waist, plus 3 inches from the hips is a total of 6 inches lost?

Just curious.

Yes, I would also like to know this as well!! Thanks!

That's what I do! I just subtract my new measurements from the old one and add up the difference in the column next to the measurements. So if I lost 1/4" from my chest, 1/2" from my waist, 1/4" from my arm, etc. I just add them up and that is the "total inches" I've lost for a specific time period. The fun part is when you add ALLLLL the inches lost since you started measuring!!! :) It is a total ego booster!!!

But how amny places do you measure? Are there standard places that people use?

I'm just thinking that I could measure my hips, waist, bust, upper arm, lower arm, upper leg, lower leg, etc. I've always wondered this same thing. I'm glad somebody asked.

This is how I do it....and the places I measure :)

This is what Curves measures once a month for us:

Bust
Waist
Abdomen (around belly button or fullest part)
Hips
Thighs*
Calves*
Arms (upper)*

These are measured on one side only (same side each time) and the loss is multiplied by 2.

All the losses are then added together to show your total inches lost.

Curves also keeps track of our weight and body fat percentages.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the Curves info! I am not measuring my calves or arms, and never would have thought of doubling the number! :p It is interesting to see how it is 'supposed' to be done. :)

I was just wondering about that today. I'm only measuring my upper arms & waist on a regular basis & I wasn't sure if I could add the loss from both arms. Now I know! I'm going to have to get started with that again & keep track of those losses, too!

glo you are braver than I, I'm not ready to give out my actual numbers yet.

I measure:

upper arm
bust
midriff
waist
hips
thigh
calf

I only measure one time a month. I have a small spiral bound notebook for keeping a record of my measurements.

I tally the total amount of inches lost each month and I keep a total inches lost to date figure too :)

It's a really good idea to measure yourself. It can make the difference in giving up and staying motivated. At least that is how it works for me :)
