How do you stop terrorists?

I read the international edition of CNN and I feel like I get a better idea of what's going on in the world. There is a lot more there about this if you want to read more.

If your intention is to REALLY stop terrorism, then we have to
do some nation building. Our actions in the past two years have
enormously destroyed the will of other countries to work with
us. Without an huge coalition, terrorism can not be kept down.
First things first. Without a stable base, things come crashing down.
