How do you stand in line

We are leaving in a few weeks and DS will be two the week after we come back. He is an outside child. All he wants to do is be outside. We let him play and run because we live in the country. His Papaw lives right behind us and that is my DS love. To go to Papaws and see his "truck".

Well here is our problem... We are not sure we will be able to keep his still in line. The last few times we have gone he was small enough to hold and we waited that way. Now he is 30pounds and over 3foot tall and we are just wondering how we will get him to stay in line for a ride.

Can you all give some advice on how to handle this?


And another question... This trip is to kindof celebrate his birthday early. We are going Sept 18-26 and his B-day is Oct 3. Is this close enough to tell the CM at dinner and the resort that we are celebrating his Birthday?

No advice on the lines my kids have always been good at waiting.

OF COURSE you can tell the CM's that you are celebrating his birthday. I did this with both my girls and myself for our last birthdays. We had DL AP's and made Birthday trips to Disneyland. We could never make on our actual days so we just celebrated when we could make the trip. My DD was 6 days early. My youngest DD was 2 weeks late and mine was a full month early (to the day).

our son was 2yrs 2 months when we went in june and we used a harness! it gave him just enough room to explore while we waited in the queue's.

it fit him fine and he is 35lbs and 37in. i think i got it at walmart for about $6.

For my energetic and impatient ds, "distractions" worked like sticker books, fun snacks, and glow in the dark sticks. I still ended up buying a Buzz Lightyear tube with candy in it in the park that was worth every penny of the $7.00, LOL! I would bring lots of little dollar store toy stuff and don't let him have any of them until you're in line so that they're fresh and new to him.

I also took our ds to a very busy playground a few times beforehand so that he'd understand the concept of "waiting your turn", etc.

The smartest thing we did and this may be frowned upon, but dh and I took turns having one of us stand in line while the other walked around or got a snack with ds in the stroller and when we got close to one of the ends of the zig zag ropes, we'd hand off ds. It was a very hot and crowded day and everyone was very understanding...we did not once get a dirty look or comment, (and it wasn't like we were taking up another car.) A few times if the people in line were talkative and friendly I would join them too. It worked great, but now we try to go when it's not so busy.

I was surprised at how friendly everyone was in line and actually tried to help us keepd ds occupied. One gentleman even tapped me on the shoulder, pointed out that the area he was sitting in was the best seat for the Tarzan rocks, and then scooted over to make room for us.

Despite my worries, we had a magical time! I hope you do too!

All good advice, but I am thinking that a September trip, you won't be standing in horribly long lines, anyway. If you come across a long one, use FP.

We are celebrating my sister's bday at Chef Mickey while we are there and it is 4 days before her "actual" birthday. Go for it and have a great time!

We took DS3 and DD7 (both active and impatient) to Knoebel's. DD7 asked on the way in "Is this practice for Disney next year?" Smart cookie

The lines were fairly short, but they did very well. DS was passed twice, and noone got uptight. We still only took up one car.

I've read that people do well with bubbles, and I think we'll get a Pal Mickey. DS loves stuffed animals.

We just got back from our trip and I didn't find the parks too busy. I followed the touring plan found in the Passporter and the longest we waited in any line was 10 min. Some of the rides we just walked on and the big rides we utilized fastpass.

This was our experience too last year during the 4th of July. If we got to the parks at opening and followed the UOG plan, we really didn't wait in lines much at all. If there was a line it seemed to be constantly moving, so no standing still for long.

My advice--get there EARLY and have a PLAN (Unofficial Guide worked GREAT for us)

We plan to get a Pal Mickey to help our 9, 11, and 12 wait. Though lines should not be much of an issue. They are only $8 day.
