You have the neighbor from Hades living next door. As some of you know from some of my previous threads we have that neighbor living next door and the neighbor on the other side is still trying to sell her house. Well I dont know if her sign fell down or she just took it down and has given up on trying to sell her house. She has had it for sale since Feb. We have both had to call the police etc. on the neighbor for various things, illegal stuff etc.
Well low and behold what is he doing now, building a nice inground pool, not to mention his lovely contractor blocked my driveway yest. with his big rig. I told him I need to take one of the ds to the dr. in like 10 min. He did move but longer time than that. We are planning on selling our house also but not for about 7 years but that could be sooner depending on dh selling his dads property. Dh and I already decided we will rent if we cant sell., but we want to list in the winter, that way the people cant see his dogs poop on our property, hear his wild partys, etc. etc. This just does not look promising especially when I see what the other neighbor is going through. Have you ever been through this?

Not to that extent, but yes we had a neighbor with "issues" when we sold a house last year. Their issues were more on the maintenance side (they never mowed their lawn, so it was knee-high, ratty, etc.). This house was directly across the street from ours, and I was definitely worried about it detracting from our property value. I was about to ask them if I could pay my lawn service to mow their lawn (so as not to lose potential buyers to their eyesore), when they suddenly started mowing it semi-regularly :confused3

Their next-door neighbors were the loud-party people, but they only had the parties at night. Hence, we just didn't show the house at night. We were able to work around this issue...it sounds like your neighbor might be worse, though.

You give it the right price and sell it at a loss. Also you get out as quick as you can. I wouldn't stay in a house I couldn't get my money back out of. Every dime you put into the house, you will not get back.

We and our neighbors have been "midnight landscapers" before. The house next to ours is a rental and the owner doesn't take care of the landscaping. One time, between tenants, we and our neighbors went into the yard to trim dead branches off of trees, etc.

When another true neighbor from hell had HIS house for sale, the neighbors mowed his yard, trimmed his bushes, etc. to make it more marketable. It worked and we got him out of there.

(I'm not saying that any of this is legal, by the way.)

Our neighbors on the other side have pretty much let their front yard go to weeds. I'm thinking of paying ChemLawn to treat their front yard, too, so the weeds will stop creeping into our yard.

When we spray our lawn for weeds, DH will "accidentally" spray into the one neighbors yard. It isn't bad, they keep their lawn trimmed, etc, but they never spray for dandelions or anything so we just do a little extra spraying. I doubt Chemlawn will spray someone's yard without their permission but you can buy the same stuff and do it yourself.

We were worried about this as well, and ended up deciding not to sell. We were planning on asking the neighbors if we could have chem lawn spray and do some clean up in their yard. I was thinking if I approached it from " hey, I've been watching these shows on tv about how much more money you can get when you sell if you spend money on curb appeal. I've set myself a curb appeal budget and am having the lawn sprayed, would it be okay if I did your yard too?"

On the up side, neighbors do move! I thought it would never happen because my neighbors have manged to get themselves out of foreclosure several times. However, the recently moved!!!!!! The new neighbors bought it as is and are spending lots of time hauling junk out. Since they appear to be fixing up the inside, I'm sure the outside will follow. Whoo HOO!!!

We are so glad we are renting the house we are in now while waiting for our house to be built, because we would never get anyone to buy it!

The teenage boy across the street has been arrested for gun possesion, breaking into the house next door to his, beating his mom, so on and so on. He has parties every weekend which brings about 50 kids to the house who all park in front of our house and litter everywhere.

Last week the cops were here with bloodhounds and K-9 as well as circling helicopters above b/c they got a tip that he has been stealing cars in the neighborhood. It is such a shame because it would be the perfect neighborhood if it weren't for this one "bad" apple...I feel bad for the next renters!

7 years? I don't see a problem with that. The odds of them still being there or still being hardy partiers after that much time (hopefully they'll mature) are doubtful. 7 years is a long time and many, many things can happen between now and then. Perhaps they'll drown in their new pool..... Accidents happen....

You would have to read my previous threads. He is an unemployed, probably takes drugs 20 something year old orphan. His own brother even moved out of the house because of him. He has many renters who live with him in various rooms of the house. He is in no hurry to go any where. Its so sad because his deceased parents and brother were so nice. This has gone on for several years and it just gets worse each year. He will never grow up, sadly. His father told us when he was alive he was worried about this "bad apple" son so to speak and now we see why. Should have seen the writing on the wall when he broke my van window with a rock once.

We had a rat house living next to us and the neighbors on the other side sold their house in the winter so they wouldn't see the overgrown lawn etc in the summers...we ended up paying our landscapers to cut the front of their house just so it wouldn't look so back and then in the back I sprayed round up that killed everything as far as I could reach-ended up about 4 feet in on their side was killed...finally after much complaining to the town they came in and did a major clean up and billed the homeowner! Finally it was sold and its very nice now!
