How do you save/budget everday life for DLP?

When we start thinking about a trip we get an estimated overall cost (including food and spends); and divide it between however many months it is before we go - then save that amount each month.

my son usually gets money for his birthday and Christmas from friends and family, so that gets put into euro's so he can have his own spending money at DLP which he can buy whatever he wants with. And with the money I save for him, goes on things like a couple new bits of clothes while at Disney (I love there kids hoodies) and a toy or two as a treat from me. And my money goes on pins, clothes for me and bits for the house

On payday I have a direct debit set up to transfer money into my savings account. Then I transfer some more once all the bills are paid. I'm fortunate that its just me so don't have to worry too much when it comes to Disney but for trips further then I will put more in savings each month.

We've got a direct debit set up for a set amount every month to a savings account. If there's any left over at the end of the month or if DH does any overtime that goes into it too. Holidays are really important to me but I'd never get into debt for one - before I book anything that can't be cancelled without penalty I make sure that either we've got the money already or there's definitely going to be enough by the time it comes around. If something unexpected came up and we found we were going to be short for the holiday I'd rather miss a year and stay home than borrow for it. When my DDs were younger, any money they got for Christmas and birthday they could have half to spend and the other half had to be saved for their next holiday.
