How do you rent points?

I am new to this DVC thing and am interested in purchasing, but thought that we should stay at one of the places first. I have been to the rent board, but don't understand about it. I need 120 for 5 nights at a 2 bdr. in Old Key West for week of Oct. 5-10 Do I post what I need or do I look for it posted? Thanks for any advice. Also, what are the savings if I rent points? Once you find some that you would like to rent, what are next steps?

First, check out the DVC Rent/Trade board right below this one on the main DISBoards page. From there you will, hopefully, be able to link up with a DVC owner who has points to rent.

Points generally rent for about $10 per point. For your stay you would need 120 points so it will probably cost you $1200.00 or $240.00 per night.

Once on the other board just post what you need (120 Points Needed For OKW Stay 10/5-10/03...or something like that) and see what response you get. YOu can also check out the posts that are there to see if any "points available" posts meet your needs.

Good luck. YOu'll love the DVC 2-BRs...especially at OKW. They are sooooo roomy! And the washer/dryer is, IMO, priceless.

you are making a great move. DW and I did the same. We were interested in buying and rented points to stay at OKW and ended up buying in that week. I personally think anyone with doubts about buying should rent points and check out the resorts in person.
