How do you quell your anxiety while waiting for your next DVC trip?

We were at OKW the first two weeks of December, but won't go now until the last two weeks of January. I find waiting unbearable!

Sometimes I just drag out the membership ring binder and start planning 3-5 years of trips and point usage just to feed my frustration. I also log on to anything Disney on the internet too. Any other suggestions out there?

Personally, I have always felt that the anticipation for a trip is almost as great as the trip itself. Plan. Read the DIS, any official or unofficial guide, trip reports, resort and restaurant reviews, WDW news, etc. and make a list of all the things that you want to see on your next trip. Be sure to include things that you have never done before, resorts and restaurants that you haven't tried, etc. It sounds like this trip will be during the 100th birthday celebration of Walt's Birthday! It also sounds like the "Who wants to be a millionaire" attraction, the Animal Kingdom Lodge and who knows what else will be operational.
We don't make day to day plans, with the exception of PS for dinner but we make a list of all the things and places we want to visit. Being part of the DVC insures that you will be back to WDW and can see what you miss on your next visit. Planning is part of the voyage and is as much fun as the destination.

This is so funny. I'm sitting here right now trying to get my daily fix of Disney before our trip in July. I actually counted the number of days (85) till we go!!

Like disneydiane, I pull out the binder with all the pretty pictures in it and then I'll go directly to the BWV section. Or I'll pull out my Birmbaum Guide or one of the others I have purchased (without really needing) and go through those! :) I'll check to see if I've missed any PS arrangements. And then I come here!!

I have had our schedule of things to do ready for almost 5 months now ;) and we go over it and usualy make some type of change to it. I like the idea bres@WesternMa had about not making day to day plans but just list all the things you want to do. I like that very much....hummmm...do I feel a change of plans coming??? :)

Well time to go....but I'm sure before the day is over I'll be back on the board, wishing, dreaming, and counting the days......

:D :D :D

I also have a countdown calender that I use until the next disney trip. When I was there in Dec., I purchased a wooden Christmas countdown calender at the Christmas store on Main Street. My husband covered the word "Christmas" with the word "Disney". So now it says "Days til Disney". It came with three little blocks and each day I change the blocks to read the correct number of days til the next trip. On the computer I have a program called "Disney Time" and it counts down the number of days, hours, minutes and seconds til your next trip! Sooooo I am never at a lose as to the number of days. I have 92 long days, although I started at 210 days, so I am getting there! Yes the planning always starts at the 11 month window so time does go by slowly but gives you lots of time to prepare for the magic!!!

Connie :)

We have a countdown to Cooperstown at the metrodome for those of us who are going to Cooperstown to see Kirby Puckett inducted into the baseball Hall of Fame. I could do that same thing for Disney!

I don't have an answer for you but I have a feeling we're going to be in the same boat. We're using all of our 2001-2002 points for our trip this November. On top of that I 'promised' my brother-in-law that our next trip would be during school vacation in February so he'd have the option of going with us (he's a teacher). That means after this November 2001 we may not go again until February 2003! After going a few times a year I'm not sure I'll be able to handle the withdrawal. ;)

The only solution would be a 'quickie' trip sometime mid-year 2002. We'll most likely need all our points for the Feb. trip, but there's always the option of renting a small amount from a fellow DVC member. With alot of planning, a really great deal on airfare and a little luck we may be able to pull it off. And if it doesn't work out, at least it will keep me occupied during the long Disney-planning dry spell. ;)

Disney Time is unique in that it also gives you Disney trivia every few seconds. Its kind of neat to learn some interesting facts about some of the attractions while watching the depressing statistics of time left for your next trip. I don't remember where it was on the computer to download, but I'm sure my husband will be reading these posts and hopefully can clue you into the correct site. Have fun Disneydiane!

hello from another addict: we don't obssess much, do we? i've done all the same things. i think the planning and reading the DIS help with the withdrawl problems the most. it seems like when all is planned with the i(s) dotted and the t(s) crossed, there are little glitches that come up. my nephew just called me last night to see if i could find a room for him, his sister, and her fiance to come with us on our november trip.

My anxiety just grows and grows to the final moment!!! I'm on my way to WDW in just 10 days and I'm about ready to burst!!! :)
I go through my dvc binder too! spend a lot of time on the boards! go over my PS list a million times! fill in everything I can in my "Passporter"!! also, everynight during dinner I have my disney CD's on!! my favorite is the music from the themeparks! it really transports you!!! go over my packing list! start packing!!! I love to walk past my guest room and see the open suitcases on the bed!!! :)

I also look at my photo albums from previous trips! and dh and I watch disney movies on the weekends!!! :)

Great Question..We schedule more frequent trips to OKW ( from 1x a year to 3x a year ), we view these boards, and buy and sell Disney Pins.

Go to do something so we dont think about adding to our 440 points. :)

Not really. I just keep going on-line,locate places to visit, bid on certificates at an auction site I like. Make ressies at various resteraunts. Just stuff to make it seem like vacation is just around the corner,( actually it is-17 days).

This Board. Definitely. I go to DVC everyday, and also Theme Park Attractions. Try to find a couple of new things to try next time. I run off a copy of any posting that I think will come in handy on future trips and file them. It keeps me going.

I feel your pain....

Before joining DVC, we were normal, every day americans who planned our vacations and went to a variety of destinations. Prior to joining, we had traveled to WDW in 1985, 1990 and 1997. During our 1997 trip, we discovered DVC and joined. Life hasn't been the same since! Before, we were very content waiting 5-7 years between visits, after all, there is a big beautiful world out there waiting to be discovered! However, now that we are members I feel deprived if we don't have several DVC trips planned.

We too are waiting for our next trip..I'm happy to report it's only 11 days away! But, I'm also busy dreaming about our November and December trips too! It's a sickness..... lol!!

I check out several Disney sites on a daily basis. When I'm at home, I first go to WWW.Disneytrips.com and select the radio feature they have...I can they surf the net and listen to great WDW music. They play a wonderful variety. (This is also a great, friendly site) The site offers Disneytrips Radio and a Jukebox. We like the radio selections the best.

Next year we have promised ourselves to only plan one DVC vacation (Christmas time) and take a 2 week vacation somewhere else. We'll see.......

We went to WDW 3 times last year, so this long wait seems interminable. I had to laugh at what fanatics we all are! I knew I couldn't be the only one doing these crazy things!! You are all making me feel a little better. :D

I really like connie7185 idea with the "___ day until (Christmas) Disney". Good idea. I have "the" number (of days) written on my white board at work. Some of my employees hope it is the number of days until I retire.

That's easy: plan, plan, plan. Even if it's two years worth. Check the internet, read my books, peruse the DVC material, and dream a lot. We don't plan every minute of every day of our trips, like some others have suggested we just make a list of things we haven't already done or haven't done for a loooooonnnnggg time. The anticipation is almost as good as being there!!

Counting the Hours Til We're Back in the World

Mother-of-Four (Five, If You Count My Husband)

Ah, misery loves company! My whole family is hitting peak withdrawal right now. Our last trip ended on Sept. 2, 2000 and we're not returning until Jan 22, 2002. Personally I live vicariously through others on the DIS! ;)

I love some of the ideas...I bet I could get stuff to make one of those countdown type calendars at AC Moore....paint it with Disney stuff, or whatever. Could be a nice little project.

I also plan my points usage for several years into the future. We're considering an add on right now, but my dh is trying to convince me to fit in a spur of the moment trip....not gonna happen, especially if we do the add on. I look at my scrapbook, watch videos (and I've requested just about every vacation video that Disney makes...just got the "adults only" version today!), read the boards here, visit the WDW site, look in my books, plan the next trip........

And there's a DIS meet this weekend near here with other DIS fanatics from Eastern PA.... (Bennigan's in King of Prussia at 12:30 on Saturday for those in the area! I know Connie and family aren't far)

I'd love to find out how to get that countdown program....it sounds like fun! We made a paper chain to count down to our trip before, but its too soon for that now. We did figure out how to make a Mickey Ears paper chain last week.

So any other ideas for making this wait less torturous?

We're all sick, sick, sick people! I'm glad I don't post under my real name. My extended families would have me committed.
