How do you pronounce "concierge"

Um, guys. As Michael Scott would say, this in not meant as criticism, but let me tell you what you are doing wrong.

Concierge is a two syllable word:

con•cierge (kôN-syârzh')
n.
A staff member of a hotel or apartment complex who assists guests or residents, as by handling the storage of luggage, taking and delivering messages, and making reservations for tours.
[French, from Old French cumcerges, from Vulgar Latin *cōnservius, alteration of Latin cōnservus, fellow slave : com-, com- + servus, slave.]

con see erje

or

wayst uv doe

So what you're saying is we need a new, less offensive word for this person?

"Cone-seeairge" with the "cone" being vocalized in a nasal tone as the hard syllable.

con-see-airge with the ge being more of a zsh (buzzing) sound

con see airge (buzzing g)

I guess I was heavily influenced by Mel Brook's The Producers (with Zero Mostel). I love the scene where the woman is leaning out of a window and informing our heros that she is a 'con-see-urge'. I still say it that way (fortunately, I have little cause to say it).

Webster's says it can be 2 or 3.

Main Entry: con·cierge
Pronunciation: kOn-'syerzh, "kän-sE-'erzh
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural con·cierges /-'syerzh, -'syer-zh&z; -sE-'er-zh&z/
Etymology: French, from Old French, probably from Vulgar Latin *conservius, alteration of Latin conservus fellow slave, from com- + servus slave
1 : a resident in an apartment building especially in France who serves as doorkeeper, landlord's representative, and janitor
2 : a usually multilingual hotel staff member who handles luggage and mail, makes reservations, and arranges tours; broadly : a person employed (as by a business) to make arrangements or run errands

Also "servus" means "server" or "one who serves" so while it was what they called slaves, I think it has a broader interpretation as well.
