I've started a blog and have started to jot notes down during the day so have something to put in it at the end of they day in preparation for my trip report, however far ahead that is!

I know I'll forget otherwise. Might as well start now so it's second nature by the time we go.

I'm also walking around more and trying not to sit down until the end of the day so I'll get used to being on my feet all day.

I'll be having a weekly Disney DVD and food night in the upcoming months just in case the kids have forgotten names of characters and so on lol.

There will be lots more nearer the time I imagine!

What do you do to prepare yourself for you hols?

spend far too long on the Dis boards :goodvibes love your idea of disney dvd night :goodvibes

For our WDW holiday I made a spreadsheet (I know there are others on here who do this so now that i've admitted it someone else can!! :rotfl2:) with our itinerary on it which included ADR times and numbers, CS restaurant ideas, park/activity for the day etc. I also had a word document full of absolutely anything to do with Orlando/WDW that could be useful or of interest.. Stuff like restaurants, special offers/discounts, 'secrets' in the parks (key under the map at Muppets 3D and the like), anything really! I'm reusing these ideas for our upcoming California trip and it works really well for me *** I tend to forget things if I don't record them somewhere! Closer to the departure date I also made laminated itinerary cards for each day (idea stolen from others on here!) My bf thought i'd finally lost the plot but once we were there he admitted after a few days that they'd been really helpful  I'll probably do some form of these this time, very handy to have all the info you need like restaurant addresses, ADR numbers and times, park opening hours, parade times etc all in one place :)

The main thing I do is prepare an itinerary of where to go each day and making sure it is the quietest park day for that particular park. I also read these boards and soak up any new information. I have a little notebook that I keep from each holiday, this details expenditure from the last year and stores things like emergency numbers for credit cards and the like. Plus what we are actually taking on holiday. I have a list for each person that I add to for what they are taking, plus lists for entertainment stuff and the like. I add to the lists as and when I remember things. Then when I go to pack I just hit the list and tick off as I go.

However, the more you go to Orlando the more you know what you are doing. This does not prevent you learning new things and even still getting lost from the airport to the hotel but you have experience to lean back on.

First timers should look at the maps of the parks and know roughly how they are tackling them.
