We have a basic black set of luggage (what was I thinking?!). I was hoping to get your ideas on what we could do to make it easier to ID our luggage on the carousel. I have heard of using duct tape, but are there any other suggestions or alternatives?

Thanks in advance! :goodvibes

My parents have black luggage, too. They tie colored yarn on the handles.

That would work, I think I might have some pieces in my craft stash. :)

Any other suggestions? :goodvibes

Yup, we do the colored ribbons. Plus we have the lime green (of course!) luggage locks that TSA can open. Always helps us pick out our bags. Of course, if you are taking ME...you don't need to worry about your luggage.

Thanks for the ideas! :thumbsup2 Where do you get the luggage locks from? Do you know if Canadian officials as well as TSA can open them (we are coming from Canada)?

We used that big christmas ribbon that you use to tie a bow on top of a tree. It worked really well and no one else had it.

I bought some Pooh fabric on the remnant table at WalMart. I cut it into strips and tied it around the handle of our luggage. I did the same thing for our rental stroller in the parks. It was much easier to locate both!!

Oh, I had forgotten about the stroller! Thanks for the tip! :thumbsup2

Nestle has a wesite where you can make personalized bookmarks. I choose my design, personalize it, print it, cut it out, laminate it, puch a hole in it and attach it to my luggage colored yarn. I was amazed at how easy it was to spot my luggage at DFW.

We bought these lime green luggage tags from Target (on sale), that really stuck out against our black luggage. The DH got a red Sharpie marker and put our last initial on them all, so that way, in the off chance that someone else had black luggage with green tags, we could figure out which were ours. And you know what? We actually did have another family on our flight home that had black luggage with the exact same tags! It was the big red letter that made all the difference!!!

I have bought colored tape (similar in size to black electrical tape, but very colorful). It came in red, yellow, green, etc. I wrapped the tape around the handles (both top and side).

When the luggage comes around the carousel, the tape makes it very easy to spot, and makes it very easy for the other people to know it is not theirs!

I am going to do this for our new red luggage when we travel next because a ton of people now have red luggage!

Ditto ... Flourescent green duct tape wrapped around the handles with flourescent green locks with those same green Target tags... plus fringed yarn balls attached that my now deceased grandmother made for my luggage when I first started college

I get at least three colors of yarn, twist them together, and tie a small loop of it on every handle of every piece of luggage (checked and carry-on). Remember, some luggage has more than one handle.

This way the colors not only stand out, but make it less likely that someone else is going to have picked the same color sceam. By putting the loops on everything, I have a simple method of ID if I should loose something and it gets turned into lost-n-found (or at least easy to spot if someone picks something up and walks off with it).

Thank you so much for sharing your ideas! I really appreciate it!!! :disrocks:
