Do you pay your bills online or do you mail in your payments? I pay whatever I can online then mail the rest. However, I don't do automatic payments. I like to send it in when I want to. I don't like the idea of money just coming out of my account, especially if there is an error on a statement.

I asked this question b/c my mother is always rushing to a mailbox to pay her bills and I tell her to do it online b/c it's quicker and easier. She has a computer but insists "it's not safe." Hey, whatever she feels comfortable with is fine so I just wondered what type of payment others preferred.

I tend to do mine by snail mail, I just like having a paper trail. It helps me keep track better.
But, if I'm getting close to being late, I do it online. The only thing I have take out automatically are my mutual funds.

About half are automatically billed to one of our credit cards (flight rewards). The credit cards and most of the rest we pay online. Just print the screen for our records. Never lost an online payment.

More credit card info is stolen by store clerks and restaurant servers than online.

I do all mine online. I can't even think the last time I mailed one. I like doing it this way so much better. It's especially handy if you use a quicken like program to track your finances.
Personally I love paying them online. I reallty find it more convenient and easier. Nothing worse than trying to mail a bill out and realize you are out of stamps.

Anything I can pay online, I do. I'm not keen on the idea of automatic payments (but I do this with my DS3's preschool tuition) because I feel like I don't have control.

I pay *everything* online through my bank's website including things like sending a check to my mom for my dad's Christmas present. Been doing this for a couple of years and love it! Since there is no charge for the service it's cheaper than putting a first class stamp on everything. And ever so much faster than writing out all those checks!

My husband pays our bills, I just make them. He does it online for 99% of them. I pay my mothers bills and just started doing it online and now understand why he likes it so much. Takes no time at all.

I pay online whenever I can or I call and pay with my debit card over the phone.

We send one thing snail mail. With our car payment, I like to go to the Post Office and send it certified mail every month. I've sent in a payment before and the payment was never recieved. I like to write a check and have a paper trail from beginning to end. We pay our daughters tuition via debit/credit card at her school, it's alot easier. Our insurance we just call up and do a check or debit/credit payment over the phone. Our phone bill is the only bill that comes directly out of our checking account. We live in mililtary housing so we do not have many bills. We do not own any credit cards so we are very :) about that.

My bank just started free online bill pay (with a direct deposit), so I just set up all mine last month. I'm very happy about this. Now I can pay all my bills online - I hate writing checks and finding stamps and whatnot. I also do auto-pay for the fixed amounts, like the car payment and DH's student loans.

I pay 99% of my bills online, through Checkfree.
I know some have had problems with this service, but I've been using them for over a year and I have had nothing but praise for them.
I think our health Insurance is the only one that doesn't give Checkfree as an option so I still mail that in.
I pay them when I want as well, I don't like someone telling me when to pay it. Most of the E-Bills I get are the correct due date and Checkfree is set up to automatically know the date it's due anyways. Atleast I have the final say in the confirm buttona and the amount!
Sometimes change is hard for some people.

we pay most through snail mail.

My Car payment, and house/auto insurance is direct withdrawal every month from a savings account. I directly deposit X $ per paycheck, and then they take it out on the given day.

All others are paid through snail mail. I use quickbooks pro, due to DH business, and print checks from the computer. Then stuff/stick/stamp. I then stick them out in the mailbox with the flag up. I never go to the post office. I even buy stamps from my mail man.

ONLINE as long as there are NO fees to do so. Some snail mail, as I don't have an option or there is a fee to pay online. I won't pay banking fees either. I am all about saving money.
