Ever since we purchased we've had our annual dues automatically debited from our checking account monthly. This was a great no hassle way to pay dues.

However I am now thinking of changing it to pay annually in January so I can charge it on the credit card and and therefore get the 'perks' I get for the card.

NOTE: Multiple responses are allowed, so if you checked #4, then also check #1, #2, #3 as appropriate.

So how do you handle your annual dues.

Love them Frequent Flyer miles............we always pay by credit card.:D

We have gone the direct debit route. Depending on the credit card, the perks could be nice but in general I think the interest you can get on your money by waiting to pay each month actually works out better for most people (except when interest rates are as low as they are right now!)

Living in Canada, we don't have the luxury of automatic monthly debit. Instead, what we have done is set up a separate bank account whose sole purpose is to hold our dues payments, then each month we transfer 1/12 of our annual dues payment into the account. When January rolls around, I make full payment with the credit card and then immediately go online and transfer the funds from the DVC account to the credit card. It works the same as monthly deposit, but we get the Airmiles on the card.

The only time it gets tricky is just before Christmas when that money sitting in the bank is tempting us by saying "spend me, spend me...". :)

I have an account set up just for my monthly dues. I also have an automatic deposit set up to put $ into this same account--I keep an eye on it, but it just takes care of itself! :)

We currently have our dues debited monthly from our checking account, but are thinking of changing next year and paying by credit card in January to get the frequent flyer miles. It is easy to have an automatic debit each month, but it would be nice to have it all paid up for the year, too!

The first two years we did the automatic monthly debit. However, this year DH got a bonus so we charged the annual dues to our Continental Visa and then paid it off when the bill came.

My frequent flier miles credit card that I use for everything is an American Express Delta Skymiles card. That works great for us for everything except paying for our dues. DVC doesn't except American Express for dues payments :(

We are new to DVC but our plan is to pay them off via our mileage CC, then pay that off all at once.

We are bummed that our Amex Delta card isnt allowed.... so we use our American Airlines Master Card instead:D

We are about to give up our United card.... I think after this trip we will have enuogh miles for 4 free tickets.... That DVC trip is going to be sweet..... No airfare... no hotel charge..... WOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

I answered that we pay by check, but we put it on the Continental card first, and then pay THEM by check...

Thanks for the info, as always! I was given the impression last week that credit card was not an option, so I signed up for direct debit, but now I'll change that to credit card.

And I'm very surprised that they don't accept AmEx -- Disney in general seems to have a very tight relationship with AmEx. I think I'll report to AmEx that we want them to accept it for dues -- they're always asking "who do you want to accept AmEx?" And I want those Delta miles, too!!

Credit card initially to get the perks, then pay it off when the bill comes. We use the GM Card, so the benefit is 5% of the amount charged. With current interest rates on savings accounts, this is way more than I would get if I keep the money and pay monthly by direct debit.

We pay ours yearly about a week before the due date. That way I have one less bill to worry about and it is taken care of for the year!

With current interest rates, we just put on a charge card and clear the whole thing off at once.

Then by the time we go during the summer, it feels like it really is "free accommodations". We know it isn't, but it isn't worth the monthly deduction for us.
