How do you pay it forward at WDW?

We are fortune to be able to go to WDW, and to be able to be DL AP’s and frequent the parks. I try to make sure my kiddos understand this and don’t take stuff like this for granted. I also want them to remember that sometimes someone looks happy on the outside but inside they could really use a random act of kindness.

At DL we try to pay it forward or sprinkle magic where we can. We used to pull a paper fastpass at a ride we were going to ride anyways and then hand it to a family on our way out. My girls loved doing that! (That’s obviously not possible anymore) Or waiting for a parade we weren’t going to watch while we enjoyed some ice cream, and then at the last minute giving our seat to a family walking by looking for one. Unfortunately it has become harder and harder to do these little things, because policies change and just because of the crazy world we live in.

What do you do at WDW to pay it forward or make a stranger’s day? We leave next week and it has been 8 years since our only other trip, I could use some ideas. It’s a whole different world over there! ;-)

We used to do those random acts of kindness with the fastpasses or letting small kids that came late to the parade get in front of us. It is harder to do now. One year the kids had glow in the dark necklaces and we gave those out. They loved it.

One way we teach the kids to give back is we volunteer at Give Kids the World in Kissimmee, FL. We thought it would be sad but it ended up being one of the best experiences we had. We have done this several times and we are doing it again this year. We take a day or 2 of our trip and we volunteer there for a few hours. Our kids love it.

Oh, our other favorite thing to do at DL, that they still let us at the moment, is to pay for the parking for the car behind us. But we are flying in and won’t have a car!

I participate in the Fairy Godmailer program where I connect with other DISers to send a postcard to a child who will arrive at WDW after me. It's a great way to spread the magic and gets kids excited about their upcoming trip.

My son had a balloon from MK that he enjoyed for a couple of days, then on our departure day we passed it on to another child right before we left. The balloons are usually durable and will last for quite a while. It was a small thing but hopefully made someone happy.
