How do you "mark" your kids?

I am worried about my just-turned-6 yo twins getting lost at WDW! Do you put something on them with your name and cell number? Any tips on things to tell them to do if they get lost? I am assuming they will be able to tell who the cast members are, right?

Thanks for any tips! :)

We used SafetyTats when we took our DD2. Luckily she never got lost but I felt much safer with them. They worked okay in the water but you get 30 so we were fine! Hope this helps!

I bought a few rubber wristbands for DD when we went on a mommy/daughter trip. www.shanrene.com I think I bought 2 or 3 and had put on there "if my parents are lost call [insert cell phone number]). It ended up being a little big for the wrist, but she wore it around her ankle.

We just write a cell number on them in Sharpie (I'm too cheap to invest in dog tags or tattoos).

We also introduce them to Mickey's Friends - the Cast Members wear white nametags (WHITE ones, guests can get colored ones) and tell them "If you can't find Mom or Dad, find one of Mickey's friends and they will help you find Mom and Dad.

In half a dozen trips, with kids much younger than yours, we've never lost them at Disney.

By the time they were the age yours are, we didn't even bother with that as both can rattle off Mom and Dad's cell phone numbers.

We use the free id kits you can get off of themouseforless.com and put our children's pics and our phone number on them. we put them in cheap waterproof id tag holders from walmart and clip them on our children's backs. They have never been lost, but it makes us feel better.

We used Sharpies to write our cell number and their names on their arms the first day and by day 5, the marker was still there. We also took a picture of each child each morning and left it on our camera so we would have a recent photo. My tip, write the name on their upper arm, not forearm. Doesn't look good in pics to have that marker showing. We didn't. I could have kicked myself. We didn't have any issues at all while we were there, and with 4 four year olds, there were concerns ahead of time.

We all wore matching shirts. :thumbsup2

Seriously...my DD tends to "drift" in crowds, and what's worse, she ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT ANSWER when her name is called. I swear, she loses all ability to hear our voices once she can't see us, even if she's only 3 feet away. :rotfl2: Anyway, having matching shirts was a godsend! Anytime she got out of our sight, once others realized 2-3 people in matching shirts were calling out for "Little Janie", they started looking for a little girl in the same shirt. She was never "lost" for more than 30 seconds. We now wear matching shirts anytime we're going to be in large crowds. DD is almost 9 and I plan to keep this up until she learns to ANSWER when she's called. ;)

Now, if you still want your kids to carry contact information on them, my kids wore their own belt bags in the park with their autograph books in them. I put an index card in the bag with names, phone numbers, hotel info, etc.

Good luck!

Personally I think we should be able to microchip our kids like we do our dogs. ::yes::

DH found basically dog tags on the internet -- we had them engraved with their names and both mine and dh's cell numbers. For the twins (just turned 2) we are going to use a small luggage chain and loop it around their belt loops on their pants. DS(3, nearly 4 when we go) will want to wear it around his neck instead.

I just don't want to take a chance and have any of them wander off. And the twins are still nonverbal and ds is still VERY young (although he doesn't look it) and he's not trustworthy in remembering either of our cell numbers.....

Good luck with it all.....

I got a couple of silicone bracelets at www.reminderband.com for my 2 year old. One had "dad" and his cell number, and one had "mom" and my cell number ( I did both in case one of us forgot to charge a phone and we needed to switch bracelets). You can get any color your kids want. I think they were around $5 each.

I had a wrist strap that went around DD's wrist and then around my wrist. She was 6 the first time we went and 7 the second time and she was fine wearing it. I think she was ok with wearing it because she was afraid to get lost. I don't know if I will make her wear it this year. She will be 8.

We also wear matching shirts. The design doesn't have to match but the colors do. DS is 12 yrs old but has Asperger's Syndrome. He still wanders and he has never met a stranger. He just doesn't get stranger danger. Anyway, once I realize he is gone then I just have to look for the color of the day. And I don't have to remember what it is because I am wearing it too. The bonus is that you pics look very nice and coordinated.

A sense of humor is a beautiful thing. :rolleyes1

:lmao: If you took me seriously, I've got some prime swamp land....

Who can tell these days...just the thought sends shivers.

Swamp Land, huh? I have a friend in the 'gator business, I'll give him a call for you!

 Gator business huh? Well now I'm curious. What does he do?

I did a lot of research on this before our last trip. I ordered theses off of ebay.

There are many different colors that you can choose. I let them pick their own~they picked the same.

It is waterproof and the outside says vital ID inside so everyone knows where to look. Some days they used them on their wrists, sometimes on the ankle.

All 3 of mine 4, 7 & 8 had their own fanny packs to carry their autograph books. I attached a luggage tag with their names and our numbers on one size and a "Pop" sticker from our magic express luggage tags on the other side.

I also put the kids and I in the same color (dh thougth we were goofey) and took a picture of them each morning so just in case. No one wandered off or got lost, but I felt better knowing they were "marked"
:goodvibes
